Belgian ministry of foreign affairs have just put Pays de la Loire and thus its departments Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire, Mayenne, Vendée and Sarthe (of which Le Mans is the capital) on the "Orange" List (up from "Green").
This implies that when somebody returns from Pays de la Loire, 2 weeks of quarantine and a Covid-test are recommended, but not obligatory. This puts 2/3 of the people joining Vincegail Tours in a spot of bother. The Mayenne department (next to Sarthe!) is "Red", so 2 weeks of quarantine and a Covid-test are obligatory when returning home. Last edited by vincegail; 1 Aug 2020 at 21:39. |

For what it's worth, the Belgium government put parts of the Netherlands on the same list. Overhere it is absolutely not so worrying as mentionent. Looks like they are over reacting. We do not even have to ware a mask.
Stay safe everyone. We will see what happens. |

We've woken up in the UK this morning to media headlines reporting the possibility of over 50's having to stay home and shield to avoid a second lockdown, which could scupper the chances of many on here going, regardless of what is happening in La Sarthe.

Well as said quiet a few of us would be on that list, but it is just the media saying so at the moment and they have very little real news so as always looking for things to say. However the panic from politicians all trying to be seen as doing something is getting very worrying.

Telegraph and Guardian reporting it. The Times too.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...down-scenarios According to the Sunday Times, measures under consideration include asking the elderly to shield once again and lockdown-like conditions for London should there be a second wave. Under the proposals, a greater number of people would be asked to take part in the shielding programme, based on their age or particular risk factors that have been identified since March, said the Telegraph. It could even see those aged between 50 and 70 given “personalised risk ratings”, in a move that would add to the 2.2 million who were deemed most vulnerable and asked to shield themselves from society during the spring peak. |

Note that it doesn't mean that the 100,000 persons are tested. |

Just read on the BBC (yes i know not very reliable) that the health secretary has said the reports in the media of further lockdown and isolation for old gits are speculation and have not come from the uk government. So expect them to be announced this afternoon

Yes, it's probably journalistic "licence" being employed in the same fashion as it has been for the last four months, which, as you say, also probably means that the government will think they have to go along with it by the time of today's 6 o'clock news....

I don't think any of our news outlets are particularly unbiased or reliable now lol. I'm a lefty and even I can't stand the Guardian.

Yeah, you're right there. Sadly the last few months have shown the appalling state of journalism in this country...

Unfortunately the recent social distancing has meant that the media in general only ever meet/talk to other media so therefore they all merge into one bloob as far removed from ordinary people as they ever were. rant over back to motor racing, currently enjoying the BTCC meet great to watch real racing again.

I think loads of these stories are floated by "a source close to government" to test the water. They never see the light of day in the real world, having seen the reaction of the public/experts outside the usual inner circle etc.

Doomy speculation post - please ignore if possitive mindset is wished to be kept
Infection numbers are starting to grow here in Denmark again, nothing out of control, but still quite alarming. Many of these increases are believed to originate from social events, which has been part of the reopening of the danish community. Looking at the sporting events of the fall, quite a few events starts before Le Mans. If these events leads to a more dramatic increase is COVID-19 spread, I fear that Le Mans will be one of the first events to get the axe. This is due to the amount of spectators, the origin of the spectators and that it is ~one month after the first big rescheduled events. The right to close this years 24h of Le Mans for spectators therefore seem quite likely - unless the european population gets their head together again and keep safe distances... |

Sadly I agree.
I'm not sure there will any scientific reasoning around any decision, it will be purely political, does France want to be seen to be 'open for business/tourism' or doing something/anything to prevent the virus spreading. |

I have just been told that the map of the villages which has been shared on here is still provisional and confirmation of arrangements by the ACO will be made on or just after 17th August, which is when the French government will announce what is allowed for gatherings going forward into September. So we can expect more clarity after 17th August and those dealing direct with the ACO are unlikely to hear before then.
I have been able to change camp site to keep my booked grandstand ( subject to any future changes) and so will join the Court of the Crimson King this year Sean Cullen |
