Watched McLaughlin's practice...then gave up watching due to the incessant ad breaks,I think 'merican Tv even has ad breaks in the middle of the ads.

Big feather in Scotty's cap although sad to see him go as because he's left, there's nothing tying Penske to DJR so Roger's sold his share of the Supercars team back to Dick Johnson and Ryan Story. Especially since Supercars Gen3 cars are Mustang v Camaro, ie: US cars. Back to topic, shall be interesting to see how he goes with ovals since he'll go very well in the road courses.
Would his time in Indycar be a way to enter NASCAR? (as this is one is ultimate goals) |

He's got to pick one or the other, trying to get to used to entirely different cars and driving styles won't go well. Think the Captain will decide for him, fast in Indy he's staying in that series for the Southern Hemisphere eyes and a new generation to continue that tradition. Not like the upside down drivers aren't at the front of the field already but give him a year to grow while Dixie and Power are getting closer to moving on.
Sato staying with RLL to no one's surprise really. Sounds like extension for 21 only. https://racer.com/2020/10/24/sato-signs-rll-extension/ Jimmie's car will be the 48 Carvana car, livery to be unveiled later. It's only entered for the street and road course events, no ovals on the program. https://racer.com/2020/10/24/carvana...nassi-indycar/ It's entered as Carvana Chip Ganassi rather than just under his banner, guessing extra money gets you better perks. Penske does that in sportscars to separate the pit boxes, didn't know they had to pit together as a team if 2 cars under the same banner. Don't think Indy has that rule though. |

Thought i heard Ganassi's #48 would enter for a full season with a different driver doing the Oval tracks...
Also, interesting that McLaughlin went the Indy Car route, not NASCAR like Marcos Ambrose... |

All the rumors were a split program on the forums and comments sections but never even hinted at in articles. I'm guessing this is a Jimmie only deal and they aren't paying for an oval runner.
If you have the Penske choice learn to drive an Indy car over Nascar. Road course heavy and they're much more dominant of a team in Indy. Ovals didn't seem great for Ambrose, he was getting better but was much further in front on the road courses |

This isn't really to do with IndyCar as such but Power would like a crack at Bathurst with McLaughlin.

Well Marco better be making the speaking tour rounds or something in the off-season. Sato's attempt at a move late in the race, and Marco's performance all season, cost him the million bucks in Winner's Circle payout. And about 15-20% of the budget for 2021.

Ericsson to remain at Ganassi.
Not really a surprise I think? https://www.autosport.com/indycar/ne...i-indycar-deal |

I personally don't think he deserves the seat. He did get pole at this year's 500, which is a feat in itself. However, he's had no wins in nine years and the last podium was 5 years a go.
It has been said, the only reason he still has the drive is purely due to the Andretti name because it brings in the money. However, are sponsors going to continue to pump money in, if the results aren't forthcoming? No. |

He’ll be on the grid but thinking it’s getting closer and closer to not for long. It feels like US Concrete and others just like being Team Andretti guys rather than Marco guys. But if they can’t get trackside next year will they renew for 2022 or longer?

Remove one car, Dragonspeed has sold their car to Meyer Shank and are leaving Indy racing to focus on their growing sportscar presence.

Ah well, not the end of the world. Wonder what Meyer Shank will do with it. I think Dragonspeed will do better in their sportscar program

Play the music and everyone swap seats. Palou signs to fill the 10 with Ganassi for 2021. Sounds like that’s it for CGR and the 48 will be only road course as originally announced according to the article and a few tweets.

Well, than Ganassi will run 4 cars for almost the full season, and I'm guessing that someone will race in that 48 car for at least the 500. Also I didn't saw posted here, but VeeKay re-signed with Carpenter for 2021 on Sunday, before the season ending race. |

I really hope Johnson will rethink about his decision not to race at ovals at least at the Indy 500

It feels like from every interview he has little interest and his wife has zero interest in running any ovals with Indy cars. His announcement with Carvana specifically stated joining the 48 and Jimmie Johnson for the street and road course races in 2021. It doesn’t seem like he or CGR have any interest in filling the seat for Indy, wouldn’t be surprised to see the engines get used by a Indy only program rather than the 48 car

Ganassi getting a replacement (full time, not counting johnson) for rosenqvist makes more sense. I was thinking they were going to be dixon, ericson, and Johnson part time only, which seemed awful weak for a top team. Palou is a good young driver to fill rosenqvists seat.
The grid has consistently grown from 20, 21 a few years ago to something like 24 full time next year. In this environment, that is a great sign. Now with mclaughlin coming over full time to Penske, if they decide to cut back in a year or two to 3 again, who goes? Power and pagenaud are the two at risk obviously, due to age and newgardens performance. Both are champions and indy 500 winners. I'd like to think both remain Penske drivers for a few more years, at least. Who knows, mclaughlin may not work out, either. This grid is stronger than the f1 grid. Change my mind.... There's at least 9 potential championship contenders every year and about 13 race win contenders. I could be wrong, but I dont think there's as high a percentage of just rich kids that pay for their seat or got there on money alone as there is in f1. Of course plenty bring money, but the amount needed to buy a ride in f1 limits the amount of drivers to choose from that have that much money. Put another way: every driver that brings money in f1 could easily afford an indycar ride. Not every indycar driver that brings money could afford an f1 drive. That opens up the playing field to a lot more drivers, allowing for a more talent-based field, as opposed to money-based field. |
