Of course the penalty for lack of green approved loft insulation is probably greater. Can one be fined for have a wife who always feels the cold? Well, cold unless she feels too hot for some reason and then opens a window ... |

Had loads up here, especially on the Moors. Frustrating not being able to get out and about in it. Best conditions for a few years but missed so many photo opportunities due to lockdown and not being able drive to exercise. Pity but needs must in these times.

Thanks for the link, Tel. Strange titles in Wales on line, sometimes: Found hanged in woods after being suspended from work. Not a coincidence I guess, rather bad taste…

Last trackway I did here I counted 32 RS GT3s,BMWs were obvious in their absence, just three in attendance. Various companies in Germany are offering leases on GT3s,only 107000 down and 1400 per month😂 |

C'est un scandale! A pure shame. Blessed country fo car enthusiasts you're living in, Terence. Right now we have an interesting offer on Dacia Sandero. Need a lifelet?

With the Renault group organisational restructuring how long will it be before Dacia get an affordable version of the A110 in their catalogue?

I remember sometime back in the 90s when I had my scrapyard, my neighbour on the industrial estate was a trucking firm. We had a very heavy snowfall (for UK) probably about a foot or so, and one of his artics was stuck on the road outside my yard. I hooked up my old 74 Range Rover V8 to the artic with a chain - and tried a low-range diff-locked straight pull. No joy - all four wheels spinning. So I backed right up to the truck and took a run at it - when the chain went tight there was such a bang I thought I'd pulled the back of the Ranger off - but a glance in the mirror showed the truck following me, and a few moments later we had him on some firmer ground Hubris soon came when I decided to celebrate and charged around the industrial estate barreling through snow drifts....until a lump of snow landed on the dizzy......... WD40 is good stuff, though |

You might not be surprised what can be used to pull trucks/lorries in emergencies. Many a time I was called out to get one of our Ford D Type 16 tonners going when they had a flat battery, and I would give them a snatch pull to start with my trusty little Hillman Imp or, later, my Escort GT. Admittedly, I cannot claim to have rescued them in the snow.

The crossmember had been acting like a scoop & shooting all the snow upwards . But as you say , WD40 works . |

With some air intakes being so low that one can achieve hydro lock in a relatively small puddle what is the potential for certain designs being prone to snow blockage or, if the nearby area is warm enough but not too warm, melting snow pack inducing the equivalent of a hydro lock situation? I would guess unlikely given the amount of winter testing that seems to be undertaken. But what if, over time, some under panels are mislaid? Is there potential of greater risk or reduced risk for some vehicles absent the undertray components? |

I suppose most of you would have seen this video of the 1980 Tricentrol Group 1 Championship part 1, with a good bit of footage of Brian Jones interviewing Stirling Moss on the grid at Mallory Park.
It's just as well that we have time on our hands to waste as it's a long video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpZThuhr8tA Pity I can't find a part 2! Last edited by GORDON STREETER; 17 Jan 2021 at 22:21. |

Anyone keeping an eye on the America's Cup build up events?
Remarkable boats. I heard somewhere that they can sail at something like 50 knots against a 15 to 18 knot wind. Or something like that. Just imagine if F1 could do something similar with their Aero technology and find extra speed whilst making it impossible for anyone to pass. |

Have seen lots of cars with " Boy Racer " type air filters on , and most of the time , although they think they sound "better " , they will lose a lot of power because the air flow is not as good as the original design . The same with under tray guards . If they are left off , there is a good chance that water / snow will be directed up into the engine compartment . |

May be they already do? Hence the DRS system meaning Drag Reduction System. Good for overtaking, reducing the drag and make full profit of the draft. You can find a lot of info re draft in Nascar events, the fast cow boys having a huge know how about this.

However what if, somehow, it would be possible to create an Aero shape that acted in conjunction with local air movements to provide forward momentum? (Whilst at the same time generating a horribly messy air wake to prevent others benefiting as well)? OK, Physics probably makes that impossible and ground level effects of air movement are not the same as wind and sails. By comparison DRS is a very blunt tool. Just a reverse air brake really. |
