If you are referring to the colour of the cars - we have two teams (five cars) so far confirmed as having black as a base colour, and one car that is half-black.

We are still short of the amount of black cars seen at the start of 2015.

Is it really that cringy? Yes, it is pompous and a bit over-the-top but I think it's in line with their new main sponsor's imagery. I think Car Gods are happy with it

It's one thing buying into the hero vs villain narrative that BTCC sometimes portrays, but another when people find a need to complain about something just because it's BTCC.

It was a bit strange, the whole 'god' theme... but in my opinion the livery makes up for it, an improvement over last year. Maybe a bit too similar to WSR from a distance for Tim Harvey though!

It's just an expansion on previous sponsorship - with Tetrosyl's brand moving from being a regular sponsor to a title sponsor.

IIRC, their first presence in the BTCC with the brand was as a personal sponsor of Mark Blundell, then as a team sponsor for Ciceley last season and now the brand has replaced other Tetrosyl brands (Carlube/Triple R) as title sponsor.

It's funny how the letter "R" has found it's way into motor racing. I entered my car back in the late sixties as an Double R Racing entry in recognition of the two mechanics that helped me out at race meetings, Ron and Ralph. I should have trademarked the name, and then I could be receiving royalties from the team that now uses the name. Prior to that it was entered under the name of North West Racing, reflecting that I was based in North West London.

And here we have Triple R. I don't think that there are many other teams similarly named using others letters of the alphabet, although I'm probably wrong.

Most recently, I can think of Triple-8. Other than that though, yes - a strange phenomenon of using a certain letter/number.

Remember a few pages back the mention of another manufacturer entry...

Looks like CUPRA have handed Goff a Formentor, so at least a tenuous link there!

Of course, he had a Civic for most of his time with independent Eurotech.

It seems there's definitely some kind of a link between HARD and Cupra now. Doubt it'll be a manufacturer entry - I think it'd already be announced - but good that a brand (or at least its UK part) is aware of their 'involvement' in the BTCC.

Maybe it's time to start rumours about Jason Plato reviving his relationship with Seat/Cupra and making them return properly as a factory team....

If I'm reading Goff's messages accurately - it appears that he's been loaned a demonstrator for a couple of weeks from a UK dealer. Probably timed to remind people they can visit showrooms with the lifting of COVID restrictions.

Evolution announced as team sponsors for Team HARD. Racing


Team HARD. Racing today confirms a brand-new partnership with fire and security solutions business, Evolution Europe. Evolution will be present on the team’s brand new Cupra Leon’s for the upcoming 2021 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season and will also play a pivotal role in supporting Josh Stanton in his first season in the 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship with Team HARD. Racing.

Evolution Europe is a UK-based company with huge international reach and is one of the largest, independently-owned businesses of its kind. For over 25 years, Evolution have been working to deliver effective, integrated enterprise-wide fire and security, risk, design and retail security solutions to clients all over the world.

Team HARD. Racing’s Managing Director, Tony Gilham is delighted to be working with Evolution, saying “It’s fantastic that we can welcome Evolution to the team for the 2021 season and I’m really looking forward to working with them.

“We were introduced to Evolution by our new Porsche Carrera Cup GB driver Josh Stanton so thank you to both for believing that we are the team that will help them reach their goals both on, and off track in 2021.

“The partnership itself will see Evolution become a prominent figure within our BTCC programme with company logos on both Jack (Goff) and Glynn’s (Geddie) brand new Cupra Leon’s. Evolution’s logo will be prominent on Jack Goff and Glynn Geddie’s Cupra Leon’s along with title sponsors Autobrite Direct for the 2021 BTCC season. Evolution will also be continuing to support former Quaife Mini Challenge competitor Josh Stanton as he progresses into the Porsche Carrera Cup for this season with Team HARD. after backing Stanton for the previous two years.

Richard Lambert, MD of Evolution comments “This is promising to be our most exciting season yet! Supporting the BTCC has been incredible for Evolution and entering our third sponsorship year with such a promising line-up in the Team HARD. Cupra’s and Josh’s Porsche is fantastic. We look forward to some great times with our staff and customers alike.”

Team HARD. Racing is preparing to enter its 10th, and biggest season in the BTCC to date after announcing their switch to the new Cupra Leon from the Volkswagen CC in September. Evolution are the latest business to confirm their partnership with Team HARD. Racing as the team continue to grow and build its business hub for the 2021 season.
