The only pantomime villain I can think of is Andy Neate, now that would be something at Speedworks. Of course that's if he wasn't actually retiring....

That may not be a bad shout. There aren't many other options left for him, and I don't see many of those as being that likely.

That said, I'd put money on Chilton being at Speedworks this year.

The only possibilities for JP are Speedworks, BTC, Excelr8 or HARD. Although to be fair any of those are equally likely! Regarding Chilton, could he end up back at Dynamics?

He's due back in a Civic, Focus or Astra after his sabbatical at Ciceley isn't he.

Exceler8 seems most likely to me. He has been everywhere else, Exceler8 seem to not be bothered my multiple messy liveries, He has a Hyundai link although Plato / Ingram would make sense aswell ? Or a Toyota Superteam - which seems trendy at the moment! Butcher/ Chilton/ Plato

Everyone loves to hate Plato.
They aren't clever enough to realise it's all an act.

To break this down - everyone is not clever enough?

Or just that some people enjoy the entertainment in having a sporting rivalry and an 'enemy' to cheer against?

I'd love to see him go there. However, I hope not in a separately sponsored car, as the Toyotas easily had the best livery last year (IMO)!

If you believe Reddit, it should be in a Toyota or a Cicely BMW...

Cool, guessing either Huff or Priaulx, if the later then the Ciceley BMW might be more likely?

I suspect that is just speculation, as I don't see how someone could have received the news that a WTCC champion would be in either a Toyota or a Ciceley BMW. Come to think of it, how does a rumour like this start anyway; how did you hear about this, Steel Wheels and crmalcolm?

Looking at the contenders:
Thed Bjork - I don't think so
Jose Maria Lopez - can't see it happening
Yvan Muller - possibly, but unlikely
Rob Huff - if it was anyone, I would guess him
Gabriele Tarquini - definitely not
Andy Priaulx - again, possible, but I would think unlikely

But to have any of these in the BTCC next year would be brilliant.

Cant believe you missed the obvious answer

I believe Huff previously said he would need a paid drive to race in the BTCC - presumably that would be Toyota backing then?

Comes from a paddock source & someone who does post on here, but they often can’t divulge much detail, hence my question. As we often see and crmalcolm has mentioned before, if you don’t have ‘facts’ all you get is questions on the validity of rumours or stories.

I know he wouldn't be the oldest driver on the grid, but he's not far off 50.

People need to stop obsessing with the past and start supporting the next generation of stars.

Yup! Although it’s unlikely to happen I would think as it depends on his offers to remain in WTCR.

He's not in the WTCR, so how could he remain? Last competed in 2019.

Since then, he's got a deal with Multimatic alongside his son, a giant automotive developer and supplier.

He is developing the Ford GT Mk II and Aston Martin Valkyrie, while they placed Seb in 2021's 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup North America, which he duly won.
