Yep, no such thing as a dull race at the Nordschleife, even if it is processional

Still no update on if the races will run tomorrow due to the tyre failures. Neil Hudson on Twitter says one team may withdraw (my guess is Lynk & Co since they had the most issues). Goodyear said there is no problem & it’s just Lynk & Co & Honda with issues but Audi & Cupra say they had problems & Hyundai didn’t have a puncture but had signs of delamination. Very messy,

Both races cancelled due to the tyre issues.

It all goes from bad to worse for WTCR, unfortunately

Won't help the improve the championship's credibility and increase the entry list, to put it mildly

this kind of thing doesn’t tend to reflect on the championship to be honest.

Having tyre failures around a circuit like this is asking for trouble. So the right decision. But, yes, the series doesn’t come out looking good after this

The weird thing is also that this isn't actually a tyre issue. Per Tom Coronel this is the exact same tire that's being used in the N24 today by a couple of the TCR cars, and they manage to make them last for 8 laps.

Certainly you don't want them to explode halfway through, that's simply dangerous. But it makes you wonder why the some of the WTCR teams had this much issues with them

The WTCR cars will be set up for a sprint, so probably using more aggressive tyre pressures, camber and suspension than the N24 teams are using

Are you sure the tyres are the same spec?

But same or different spec of course cars have different setup.

One guy with insight (NLS-champion) said, that due to new track surface in some places around the track, especially one tyre (can't remember which one) was near damage on some cars in the 24h-race.
So it might be a problem with aggressive suspension setup vs. new track surfaces????

And yes - i think, there are different setups for different race lenghts and also differences between cars...

It's clear that the circuit might not suit these cars like the 24 hour cars. They are probably better at smoother circuits. Shame really, but it's not the end of the world. Still plenty of the season yet

If I remember correctly, there is also a separate endurance package for some of the TCR cars...at least I think I'm remembering correctly

According to Autosport, Goodyear had set 'safe' parameters for the car set-ups and they were told by the teams that the setups were even on the conservative end of the spectrum: https://www.autosport.com/wtcr/news/...sion/10314120/

Nurburgring scandal was the beginning of the end of WTCR. Let's face it.

Not sure about that. At the end Goodyear is more to blame than WTCR.

The series could have simply specified the values ??in terms of tire pressure and camber, just like other series do.
Hyundai and the 24h teams doesn´t have any problem with it.

I believe they did, but maybe to conservative? Or they don't wanted to blame the "big players" for doing wrong?

Maybe Lynk&Co and Honda couldn't keep up with the Audis etc. without more aggressive suspension setup?

Goodyear specified some values, but nothing is enforced

I think Goodyear have done their best, but it's always going to be tricky with all the different circuits. However the question is, would any other tyre manufacturer do a better job?

I think, they don't wanted to offend the brands, which keep WTCC alive (5 cars from Lynk&Co, 4 cars from Honda), thats why they didn't control it more.
And of course these brands didn't want to be uncompetitve due to suspension setup, they would have to use...
