No Van Eerd, no RFN, simple as that. According to Dutch news sources the Dutch Public Prosecution Service will decide today whether to start prosecuting the nine suspects or not. Typically suspects are being released if the latter. If Van Eerd is being released the damage might be limited but I feel he might already have too much of a negative image for the Jumbo company and he'll (be forced to) step back.

All the motorsport sponsoring is because of Frits van Eerd, rest of the family don't care. Even if this case ends well for him I can imagine the spendings car cut.

Oh I meant purely an entirely new guy funding a car and new panels for it if the car is already in the US and ready to go. would be a crazy long shot and agree he's done whether guilty or not. Wonder what that will do for other Jumbo moneys, have to expect Max's money is safe for his helmet stickers.

One would assume the entry is paid for as RTN has been contesting the NAEC so far and as Algarve Pro proved at the beginning of the year, unwrapping sponsor names doesn't take that long so yeah, the scenario you're describing is possible.

On Van Eerd: The Dutch "Financial Times" (Financieel Dagblad) is reporting that today 1 of the 9 suspects has been released but it's not Van Eerd. His custody has not officially been confirmed by the authorities though but the FD is usually very thorough with their reporting.

Jumbo will give all sponsorship deals a hard look I'm sure - we'll see which ones survive. It's hard to imagine them ending their cycling team and F1 commitments but who knows.

That would depend on what commitments he's made. You're also assuming guilt. No guilt has been proven and he has not even been formally charged yet.

Nope I'm not assuming guilt. I'm assuming regardless he'd want to get his affairs in order rather than racing an LMP2 car. Genuinely don't care if they turn up so happy to move on.

It would also depend on release requirements, US travel allowances and multiple other moving pieces for van Erd. I think best bet is the car is funded without a way to get the money back and the team can use another driver. I'm looking at it as a bonus if they're there but LMP2 so they're all just there rather than THE show

Yep, replacement driver would be my bet as well. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

He remains a suspect so it would be very surprising to see him being allowed to leave the country. Also like Simmi stated, he has bigger fish to fry right now.

Entry list is supposed to be released tomorrow (Wednesday) btw.

At least, it was so scary watching them go into 10a last year. Even when there weren't incidents they were so many close calls with GT cars and other prototypes braking into the corner trying to avoid the P3 cars.

It was entertaining watching them and GTD try to beat each other in to T3 as well, more than a few took to the cycle alternative. The smart ones at least, the idiots went through the grass and double hit curbing

48 is pretty close to the 2011 record when there was a constant traffic jam on track (54 cars with a few on the reserve list if I remember correctly, my arm still hurts from blue flagging!).

Throw in some possible slick conditions and you'll have your work cut out!

At least now all the GT cars have the potential to run at the same speed (depending on who is behind the wheel) That may make it slightly less chaotic, although 11 P3 cars....
