My biggest spin at 3S was when we went testing at Alfa 75 after upgrading the front brakes and installing a balance valve. My mate took the car out first, then came back and told me to have a go.

I did a couple of bedding-in laps then gave it some beans on one of the straights and braked really late for the corner - at which point the car swapped ends instantly.....

I came back into the pits and opined that there was perhaps a little too much rear end bias........to get the reply - "Yeah, I thought that"..... but of course he never mentioned it to me....

Engaged wuth a "webinair" with MSUK this evening.....amongst other things some encouraging noises from Dave Richards about looking urgently into the issues with the "lifing" on seats, belts etc that needlessly put up costs for Clubmen.

Hope the talk turns into action.

I'm surprised you're allowed or even encouraged to express yourselves about this kind of subject. We're not. Contractually forbidden. Pay and put a sock in it. And vice versa.

I think Dave Richards is a reasonable bloke. Mind you, he's been promising movement on lifing for a while now and little action.

Does anyone read the MSUK pdf magazine? I just lose the will to live with the acres of pixels covering the CEO blurb and now a long article from DR. I just scroll to the court stories then press delete.

Derwent is heading for a stewards' enquiry!
I was impressed with the webinar. I regularly speak to Dave, Hugh and Claire and they are going in the right direction. There are so many different pressures on the sport now.
I actually enjoy Revolution, remember it has to cover a wide range of interest and many at club level are casual enthusiasts to who tours and autosolos etc. MSUK are very open to discussion and reply to queries. I send them our club magazine and sometimes get comments of the articles. Dave came up last year to Cumbria to our new Club House for our Awards ceremony.
The biggest issue is funding. Historically the RAC/MSA etc never did things that created income and of course Bernie took the GP money. When you think the LTA had £40m to spend on development this year and event sports like hockey and bowls have decent amounts. Our sport is now so commercialised it's difficult to for the governing body, or clubs to make money.

I do, generally read Revolution, although in general I dislike online publications - being old(fashioned) I greatly prefer a paper magazine, although I understand the costs and logistics in favour of electronic...

Motorsport has always been bedevilled by our piecemeal approach - something like 700 clubs, of vastly varying sizes and levels of engagement, loosely organised by regional associations which themselves send delegates to national committees. Given the lack of interest that the average club member has in getting involved - rather than whinging on a forum or other social media - its not surprising that governance is often sclerotic.....

I speak as one who has been (and remains) a club delegate to Regional Associations, attendance at who's meetings is almost invariably by a small percentage of those clubs eligible to attend.

I dislike the online version with a vengeance, I find it really hard to use, especially when I'm only interested in the Judicials.

I would much sooner have a paper copy.

I learnt today that a number of motoring magazines from the Kelsey group are going to be subscription only, or on line and will not be in newsagents due to the high fee Smiths charge for distribution.

Sadly print media appears to be a thing of the past. From my early teens I used to buy Hot Car, CCC & Custom Car magazines every month (and keep them, in pristine condition). As I grew older I added Classic Car magazines (many different titles), Autosport, Fast Car, Top Car, Performance Ford, Classic Ford and occasionally Motor Sport to the list too. Nowadays the only one I subscribe to is Classic & Sportscar magazine, many of the others are out of print anyway, but there just isn't the demand for that kind of thing anymore.

I recently joined a local cars and coffee group. On one of the FB posts a member is talking about his next car which may be an 80's/90's hot hach or an oldskool(sic) Ford. It reminded me of Hot Car mag which I bought regularly. I suggested he gets hold of a Mk1 cortina and sticks a stage 2 1600 crossflow in it.

Me too. Plus what Max said.
I've a nice new 27" screen and still have to scroll all over to try to read a page. #
If actual printed material becomes a thing of the past can we get away from portrait A4 format to something that fits the technology?

Ah, resolution, resolution, resolution.

And A4(A5)/Foolscap (conceptually as "portrait mode", but not the exact dimensions) will continue to persist for phones I suspect. For a while ...

Delta tale.
Biking home a couple of weeks back dark and raining through a puddle and bang!!!!!down pot hole i go over the handle bars and splat on the ground. Screaming women and very helpful car drivers stop and get me up and back on my feet. The bike was OK and despite a couple of very nice people offering to take me and bike home i carried on the few miles home. Nice black eye in the morning and a very swollen left hand. Could of been a lot worse and carried on working since. Yesterday at work I took a bit of a tumble and of coarse stopped my self with damaged hand. Last night i was in a great deal of pain and with no sleep. Went to Reading A and E got an X ray and sure enough fractured bone in hand. Kind of lied a little and said this happened a couple of days ago and the Doc was a little puzzled .My conscience got the better of me and i opened up and told the truth that this happened two weeks ago. Ah she said that explains the X ray as the fracture has already started to heal. She was very nice and thanked me for being honest " Honest Delta ". I must say the NHS have been very good to me these past few years. Mechanics back problems ,and I have had various scans, I am getting both cataract done next month and now all this as i was seen and X ray'd within a couple of hours. Good old NHS. Thank you.
BTW I agree would love to go back to the old paper MSUK letters.

Sorry to read about the fracture, Iain - hope it mends quickly for you.

I must say that I do get annoyed about people who moan about the NHS. I'd love to know where else they could get the treatment that is available through the NHS without paying, and yes I know that it is paid for by taxation that most of us have to pay. But still! I am extremely grateful for the care that I got nearly three years ago, and for the follow up surgery that I had just 9 weeks ago. Hopefully, that will be the last time that I need to spend any time in hospital.

Good luck with the cataracts, Iain. I had mine done a few years ago, and, certainly in my case, the procedures have given me near perfect long distance vision. And I had really poor vision from birth, so being able to see almost perfectly without glasses now is truly wonderful, and my optometrist even told me that my vision without glasses was actually good enough for driving.

Crikey Iaian, that's no way to start the New Year and new season!

I hope you have some evidence of the pothole and can claim compensation from the council concerned.

It has become very noticeable in recent weeks just how bad the roads have become after a few cold and icy days.

Iain - you'd mentioned your earlier tumble, of course......sorry you had another to aggravate it - I'm suffering from what I think is arthritis intermittently in my wrists - currently the right one playing up - and its really frustrating as I have jobs to do but just don't have the grip in that hand to do what's needed - had to use my left hand to turn the ignition key the other day as I couldn't get the required twist with my right hand to actuate the starter....

Anyway - has Mrs Delta forgiven you yet, I seem to recollect she wasn't impressed previously?

She gave up on me when we first met 40 years ago. Sorry about arthritis the Doc did say that I have some but that is down to old age. Back to Mrs Delta one of our first dates was a drink in local pub. Bleeper when off and I threw her in the car and shot off to drive the fire engine. She got left in the car park for a couple of hours. If that did not put her off then nothing would.Happy Days.

Sorry to hear your tales of woe Ialn, however I know that you will soon "bounce" back I have had a few injuries over the years mainly through motorbikes on and off track, and found that the NHS is brilliant.
I broke a finger in my motocross days and decided to just tape it to the next one as I didn't want to take up the NHS A+E time. However although it healed OK it looks a little bent
