How would a - albeit de-tuned - 'production' car be better than a purpose built race car?
If anything, the difference - or competitive level - is/was more than likely to come from budgets and team operations. |

I wonder if the special compensations are still in place for using a production based car? I haven't read the latest rules and regs so I'm not up to date on that. I do recall that there were some performance related perks allowed for production based cars in the early stages of these hypercars.

Edit:just noticed the area behind new GT3 front wheel - almost totally open with bodywork diving well into arch - rather than side vents for airflow as before and further edit rear wheel rear view like some retro racing 911 porsches Last edited by RL17; 12 Oct 2023 at 20:31. |

Looks pretty good, they smoothed out the front, more like the '10-'14 car. Doesn't have that indented section, just below the headlights. Put that out in their version of racing green, or as I call it "Aston Green", with the yellow at the front, and you have a winner just on looks alone.
But that's just me... ![]() |

You can see the cutouts for the bigger headlights in some pictures. Looks like the yellow stickers are there to mislead. I much prefer this version to the outgoing gt3.

Just noticed how the front of the EVO Vantage GT3 looks a little like the Emil Frey Jaguar from Blancpain days.

Testing for the hypercar program has begun with the AMR Pro, they're targetting a late Q2 rollout for the full LMH spec car. |

I guess it'll look pretty similar to the Valkyrie PRO. Which is great. Best thing imo is they're keeping that glorious V12!

Everyone is going to want to hear that V12!!! Nowadays the winning Mazda of 1991 or a 333sp that only won the class in 1998 is more important than all the Audi Diesels that won..... |

I'm curious how much power the V12 produces on its own?
I know it says 1000bhp, but I presume thats a combined power total of hybrid plus engine bang? |

AMR Pro does not have the main hybrid bits, apparently there's a much smaller motor to fill between the shifts but not the weighty hybrid of the street car. All the articles I've seen still list the 1000 hp/545 ft-lb number

Ok so the engine alone is 1000bhp?
Question then is, how will they knock the power down to 697bhp as per the regs? Does a team have any influence on that or does the ACO / FIA just slap down a mandate on what they need to do? My guess is that it will be rpm limited to 7000-8000rpm or something? |

I would guess they propose how and if their results work and can be homologated great, if the ACO/IMSA need anything extra they'll both work on it. Rev limit and potential restrictors I would guess

I would think they would always go with a rev limit option, lower revs = less heat, less vibration, less fuel consumption. I am not surprised they have gone for a non-hybrid in a way as if they did go for a hybrid I dont think they would have been able to make the V12 viable, because it would have to have been so detuned to make it problematic. If they did go hybrid at some point they would probably go for a V6 / V8 turbo + hybrid.
