Adam Kinmond, Rover Vitesse (#64), won the driver of the day award, as well as taking two class wins on 7th July.
Championship sponsor, Edinburgh Watch Company proprietor, Jonathan Gilbert, presented these and all other class awards at the end of day of sunshine and showers. Andy Graham continued his winning form at Knockhill with victory in race one. The Kinmond Rover team were second and third, John from Adam. First time out in an MGBV8 was fourth finisher Ewan Anderson just ahead of Colin Calder and Craig Houston. Championship leader Iain Mitchell was seventh, from Niki Dickson, Paul Green and Michael Longstaffe. Final three to finish were Duncan O’Neill, Richard Cooper and Mark Wynn, TVR Vixen 1600. Unfortunately, the Triumph powered TVR of Andrew Kinmond and XR2 of Sonny Gray failed to finish, and an oil leak prevented Ian Morton from racing. Anderson made a blistering start to race two and held second place, behind Graham, for the first three laps. Both Rovers passed him and at the finish we had the same top four as race one. Houston, Mitchell, Dickson and Green followed in positions five to eight. Longstaffe was ninth from Gray, Wynn, Cooper and O’Neill. Graham had fastest lap in both races and remains second in the championship behind Mitchell, Longstaffe is third. Paul Green leads the XR2s from O’Neill and Gray. Next event is at Anglesey on 3rd and 4th August. Please contact SMRC if you are interested in a guest entry. https://www.smrc.co.uk/contact/ |
