Graham, I am getting my positions and pulleys mixed up. I wounld never manage 14000 rpm so that won't be a problem

a Lucus ACR on a Lotus Cortina was dying within minutes at full chat (9k RPM) with standard pulleys, we reckon the Alternator was hitting 14-15000 RPM . . . .with a dynamo pulley it reduced it to about the same as the engine revs, less a little slip, and its been fine ever since.
