A big publicity stunt to announce a garage 56 project, a huge publicity stunt in itself.

Nice marketing exercise, but not particularly interesting unless they choose to actually compete. I am a big fan of racing, competing, not of demonstration engineering exercises. All the power to them, but I'd have to agree with others. Blown out of proportion, disappointed in the hype.

Well Darren Cox is stating that this is an exercise to evaluate using this technology working in a real LMP1... they want to go racing with this... in future... sometime. Pure electric cars at LM... hmm, full sized slot cars. If it doesn't work, they'll try something else. Don't want to go racing with a standard engine.

DC just said they are evaluating a return to LMP1. Hope they stick to that and aren't just dangling the carrot so they can continue to soak up these headlines.
Doesn't seem too difficult to gain a G56 nod from the ACO. They probably ripped Nissan's arm off. |

Darren Cox just mentioned its a stepping stone on the way to Nissan returning to LMP1. This car is being used to test the technology to see if its a viable option in LMP1.

NISMO - NIssan Slotcar MOtorsports. ;-)
Ok, so "if" it can work, they "might" race it. I'm still not a big fan. I guess it is big news, it just isn't interesting to me news. Still a PR stunt. It seems NISMO has made a habit of doing oddball things. Wish they'd just run a GTE GT-R, or standard LMP1. |

So the car that was under wraps, was it relevant to the G56 announcement?
