Putting some books back on shelves last night (nearly all motorsport related- how strange) thumbed through my 1962 Hippo 'Racing Cars of the World'. Several FJ cars I have come across this year in there- among them the FWD Bond, gorgeous Osca, Volpini & Stanguellini. Most intersting is the BHP quoted- 80 for Bond, 85 for Osca and Volpini, 75 to 80 for the Stanguellini. Mmmmmmm.... |

I guess I am not the only one on hear that tows an historic saloon ie the Westminster. Do you find that in petrol station,s or if you have stopped somewhere someone will come up and say"My Dad had one of those". Anyway in Oxfam today and I am allways looking for a motor sport book but there on the shelf was a book." My Dad had one of those". £2.99 later and its mine but Mrs Delta is loving it.
The Reliant Scimitar was for the sporty Dad. No mention of buying a fire extinguisher |

Sounds a great book- have to look out for a copy. Does it include Renault Fregate, Chrysler Valiant wagon or Commer Cob? As for being approached anywhere by someone with the phrase, you will find your Mk1 Escort attracts more attention than anything else! I left (previous) home at 6am out in the wilds of Norfolk once in TEX, my RS1600 road car, and 100 yds up the road had to pull over for a hatchback coming the other way. Sure enough the driver stopped, wound down his window and started to relate his Escort story. And it is a pain towing The Canary on an open trailer due to the amount of cars that get alongside and then slow to take photos. Interesting if you are closing rapidly on something slower.... |

It's a great book, Iain, but expensive to get hold of. I got mine off eBay for £90 about 5/6 years ago when they were usually going for £120 or so. £200 is probably not far off now, but eBay might throw one up which you can bid for and get for less.

Hi Folks! Sorry for loss of activity but have been relying on a notebook for access for the past while. Hopefully will have a 'proper' computer on Tuesday. Had a great time coming down to our winter home, whenever we stopped for lunch, the Spanish wanted their photos taken with the new toy, a Lotus Evora in Starlight black, and in exchange free drinks! We had the same problem on the motorways as earlier posts, drivers running alongside to look and/or take photos with their phones. Hope to see you all next season

Well this is fun! Here I am stuck at Logan Airport Boston with a two hour minimum delay on the connect flight so it looks like a hotel in Atlanta tonight then hopefully on to Daytona tomorrow.

The Museum at the raceway is a must, but don't miss the museum at the Beach either to get the full blast of the heritage.... in a few days time, NASCAR is running a fuel injection test at Daytona, so if you can play your cards right Al, you could end up signed by a Cup team for a part-time programme for next year.

Yeah that'll suit if I ever get to the damned place, they have delayed another couple elof hours apparently McDoneall Douglas say the landing gear should have yellow fluid in it and they only have red at the airport so no one wants to give the authourity to use the red stuff. Actually some French guys apparently are taking several French NASCARS over and several guys have let them down for the trip so it was on offer for £7k for the weeks racing, I think I will pass lol! What do I want to pay them 7k for whan I have 2 race Camaros and a Penske IROC NASCAR type 1977 Racecar under renovation now!

Al, my brother and I went to New York, stayed a week and had booked to fly New York/Indianapolis a week later.Arrived at the airport and told they had cancelled the 9am flight, no reason, and rebooked us on the 7pm flight, which actualy left at 10pm, got into the hotel at about 2am, Delta is not my favourite airline. No pun intended.

I understand that internal flights in Russia are not very appealing, statistically, at the moment, as aged Tupolevs etc are being refurbished in even older and rudimentary factories!

I didnt do it to save money I thought I was being smart flying direct to Daytona at least I save an hour and half driving from Orlando and we went from Heathrow which is 10 miles away from home not Gatwick. Anyhow it nearly 6am US time had a nice few hours sleep in a seriously comfortable bed and about to go down for breakfast, then down to airport and catch the short shuttle at 9am for Daytona. BTW what about that driverless train Rapid Transport Sytem at Atlanta Airport, bloody awesome like steeping into the future and travelators everywhere!!!
