I thought Switzerland didn't organize any car race on its roads going to Prenois instead. May be they did because of electric power?

I had it from new in 79 until mid 86, having used it for commuting back and forth to London when I worked there, done some night rallies in it, and used it as a chase car when my mates were doing the RAC. To be fair, when I sold it it was a little rusty - but there was no danger of the engine falling out Replaced it with a 4 year-old Jetta diesel which was a little pedestrian after the 1.5 Sud, but once I'd uprated it to GTi suspension so that I didn't have to slow for corners so much, it did my 70 mile daily cross-country commute OK. The Mk2 Golf GTi I replaced it with was much better, though! |

I always think that you can tell a lot about an Ebay seller when they can't spell knackered correctly...

The questions/ answers area is great too and I can't believe the seller is highly rated. This confirms that humor is a English specialty! Or how to take fun seriously…

The only other item he is currently selling is a pressure washer. Presumably the pressure was a little too much when he used it on the Escort!

I'm sure you'll all understand why I'm currently keeping a tactful silence. I will of course be back at full strength when the present subject changes.

Talking of rusting cars, I've recently seen evidence that if looked after well, a 45 year old car can still be in good nick! It's a ONE OWNER 1972 Ford Capri 3000E manual, 100K+ miles but totally standard & original, never welded, interior superb, with only slight damage to driver's door card rear edge. And a working 8 track!
It's not for sale, in case you ask- a friend has inherited it and is definitely keeping it...... |

At the supermarket yesterday I parked next to a Peugeot 403 which looked to be pretty original. Didn't see the owner to ask. |
