True, but in most series if they run 3 hours or less it is a race. How many other series will race over 3,000 miles in 24 hours besides the endurance series?

That was mentioned last year, but the new NSX will have some hybrid power and I don't believe that is allowed in current GTE regulations. Honda hopes that the regs will be changed, and I believe that has to happen since a lot of new sports cars will have some type of electric assistance.

Honda did announce they're returning to F1. Was it rumoured to be a "big announcement" just for sports cars, or just a major announcement?

http://hpd.honda.com/press/detail.as...18612193854979 That has to have a lot of common things with the Wirth sim (if it is actually designed/build by Wirth in the first place): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsEv-hXp96Y |

Okay so someone remind me what the 'big news' is again?
About three separate things have been mentioned in here during the last few days. |

If we're just throwing rumours out into the wind apparently (according to the WEC's social media) Dario Franchitti has said he would like to try the WEC, so maybe he'd be a good fit for HPD if they put something works/semi-works together.

Maybe Honda are interested in the F1 engine in LMP1 situation like Renault were/are?

First priority for HPD is to get the new NSX on the race track, they would like to race it hybrid but the ACO/FIA would have to change rules.
Where does that leave the HPD LMP1 teams,is Honda going to pay Wirths to build the new Coupe for next year or are they(Muscle Milk,Strakka) going to use their open cockpit chassis for one to two years. Because they might wait until 2015-16 to build a new chassis(Mclaren/Wirth) with the new NSX engine(was told will be almost a street legal race engine).Honda would like the press they would get by a production block engine beating the best racing engines on the planet! Nothing better than seeing the engine in the back of your sports car winning the Le Mans 24! |

Honda JDM keeps changing their minds!
The only reason they had an emergency press meeting(they didn't want to tell us yet) to let the World know about F1 return was because somebody leaked it to the Japanese papers! There is almost a revolt(young engineers) going on at Honda because of no racing(global) or sports cars the last 5 years! I been telling my friends on a Honda Fan Site that Honda was going back to F1 with Mclaren for the last six months(seeing to many Honda faces at Woking) but they didn't believe me. Honda is looking for a factory team for Lmp1,so you can take the Rebellion rumor anyway you want. |

For HPD to race, somebody has to pay the bill.
When they first raced in LMP2 then LMP1,Acura payed the bill. So if Honda Corp or Honda UK doesn't pay for the Coupe and Engine design and development,HPD is going to need to find a team/teams with the funds to do that! Also at the Moment Honda is looking for a home for their HondaF1 team in England. The engine is going to be built in Japan but everything us will be done at the new shop. So thats the delay! |

I donĀ“t expect anything from Honda in Endurance racing after the F1 announcement. F1 draws too much resources. The maximum I imagine is a collaboration between McLaren and Honda for a GTE-GT3 McLaren.

Honda needs a place to work on their engines in Europe because they sold their shop in the UK in 2009 and closed their R&D location in Germany too.
There is talk their going to buy Cosworth's F1 shop. |
