Front fenders are different just before the mirrors. The black part at the front is narrow in the LM package. The air intake below the nose is narrow in the LM package. The air intake at the windscreen looks bigger in the LM package. On the front fenders, the add ons are almost flat. The more noticeable are the bigger air intakes at the side of the cockpit.

1. Flat Dive planes on LM
2. Brake intakes are more open on LM 3. Upper side of front splitter smaller on LM 4. Lack of small black piece past the side number plate on LM 5. Rear wing looks lower on LM, could be camera angle 6. BHH on rear look to be on top for LM, on side for Spa. 7. Cheese wedge looks smaller on LM. I'm coming for you MulsanneMike! |

And yes the rearwing looks to be lowered by a decent amount. And you can see that by looking carefully at different reference points on the fuselage. And of course the larger endplates are a result of the lower wing as well Last edited by Skemer; 19 May 2015 at 17:38. |

Endurance info speculating this isnt the final package. It has updated rear end on both the high and low d/f cars (the lights). The low d/f car looks the same as that from the prologue with slight changes to the rear wing endplates, missing aero appendange on the sidepod and the afformentioned rear lights. Besides that there seems no difference to the LM package from the prologue...

They were at Paul Ricard with that package and they were ~2 s behind or ~2%. If that translates to race pace then they will be 30 min behind in 24 h race. Sure a problem free 24h can still get them on the top, but odds are against them.

Doesn't matter, the forum has spoken!
Test day will be extremely interesting though to see what type of effort the teams are willing to put forth. Surely all teams will test with their Le Mans package, but will they be going for outright lap times or focus a test program? |

porsche - 3:24.911 vs. 3:24.899 toyota - 3:23.014 vs. 3:23.112 audi - 3:23.799 vs. 3:22.567 this went pretty much the same in earlier years as well. so i expect the test day times to reflect the race pace of the cars pretty accurately. |

I think we'll see a mix of everything, Qualy, race setups from Porsche. They just go about their business and let the car do the talking, because they know they have the quickest car. Audi and Toyota will probably be a bit more conservative. Toyota is apparently low on Tubs, Audi won't want any accidents with its drivers.

What Im pointing out is the percentage thing isnt such a good basis. If we go by that, with the high downforce car being even slower, doing 1:41's(?) during the prologue, means it was 4 seconds slower than Porsche or ~4%. If that translated to Silverstone, Toyota would have qualified with a 1:43.4xx and at Spa a 1:59.2xx. But it was way closer, 2%/seconds closer (at Spa). And then the low drag car was 2%/seconds faster than the high d/f car (at Ricard). If we put those together, that 4 seconds equals Porsche. Is that a solid basis? I wonder if anyone will think that is a logical conclusion. |

Definitely i think Toyota will be closer to Porsche and Audi at LM... remains to be seen what Audi will do, they came out at Spa with a High Downforce Le Man spec car, that i think will put the original HD sprint spec only at Cota and Shangai again... if not directly to a museum... Audi always reserves a rabbit out of the hat for LM, last year the sprint version was kind of mediocre, yet the LM spec won LM, made the fastest lap (twice) and managed the race speed record(only missed the pole position)...

It would appear, based inter alia upon tweets posted by Roman Rusinov who was also testing the G-Drive Ligier JS P2 at Spa yesterday, that valuable track time was lost due to the rainy conditions. This will surely not help Toyota's preparation, but time will tell.
Quick question: what was the purpose of the test at Spa if - like it is assumed by some in the media - Toyota were not testing the final LM package ? Aside from giving Kobayashi some time behind the wheel of the TS040, how is this supposed to help Toyota's preparation for LM ? If this assumption is true, are Toyota really counting on the LM Test Day alone to prepare for LM ? That's not serious, is it ? |

That's what you get with testing at Spa though.. Weathers not very good especially in May as the saying goes 'never shed a clout until Mays out!'
Maybe their running parts of the kit they've developed already but due to the pace of the others, their in a frantic rush to produce other pieces which aren't ready yet? Who knows, anything could be happening behind the scenes. |

Nigel, it might not be that bad. They dont have to rely on track testing so much. The tools they have back at TMG can substitute lots of things learned from track testing only. If you noticed, they brought the same aero package they raced at Spa to the test as well. So they could run both cars with the two packages to verify data on the two and go from there. Much better than just one car running and switching out between aero kits.
I guess running in the rain wasnt on the agenda, but they were much closer in the wet practice at Spa. |

From a viewer perspective it's definitely more exciting if the weather is changeable
On the batteries, commercialy available batteries are getting in the region of 5 kW/kg, that would mean 70 kg of cells with total 5.7 kWh for Toyota's 480 HP. But Toyota is probably waiting for Panasonic. |
