I don't think that Proteam have 'confirmed' that's their livery at all, but it's a nice opportunity for some light-heartedness.

Expected anyway, but WTCC confirms Japanese race at Twin Ring Motegi in 2015.

According to WTCCBlog, Citroen and Honda are both testing at Valencia currently.
Meanwhile, some rumors say that D'Aste may return in a Wiechers-Sport Chevrolet (ex-Munnich one) http://www.motoryracing.com/wtcc/not...tos-wtcc-2015/ |

Sure it's been discussed, but NO MACAU?!?!?!??!?
WTCC has been slepping around the 3rd rate circuits of the world for a couple of years now, but at least had the crown jewel of Macau to give it some credibility, but now that's gone. Sorry, but that's just AWFUL news... Why do the FIA grant Touring Cars a World title and then demean it so badly? As if racing the cars on the Nordschliefe wasn't daft enough... M. |

I'm sure going to miss Macau a lot. aside from the crapshow of 2013, it provided good racing and was a crown jewel of the series. they're trying to play up the Nordscheife as the new "big race" of the WTCC but I don't think there's going to be exciting racing at all there. it'll be a glorified time attack session.

i think some of the teams were unhappy with macau as the final round, high risk of damaging the cars and the long way back to europe; short time to prepare the cars for the next season.
also the tc1 cars are too expensive for the guest drivers from hong kong/macau which is why i guess tcr is more attractive for them. i'll sure miss macau, but i can live with it being replaced by the nordschleife Last edited by Metzo; 30 Jan 2015 at 23:07. |

At first I was furious when I heard that Macau is going to replaced by something but now I understand that it's not the end of the world. Nordschleife is awesome, and that Vila Real circuit seems to be good. Well, racing will tell us soon whether it's a good replacement or not

Macau is a different track with the TC1s. With the older S2000, the cars were truly on the edge through Mandarin, so by being a little bit braver, you could mount a challenge at Lisboa, especially as the cars were slightly narrower and the braking zones longer. Now with the more aero-reliant TC1s not only Mandarin isn't as big a deal as it used to be, but also the cars behind have to deal with dirty air... which makes passing very hard, even at Lisboa.
So honestly, all things considered I'm glad if TCR gets the deal, it will most likely provide bigger grids and better racing, and it makes more sense for the local drivers too. |

I agree, that Macau is not the real deal with TC1 cars. It was better show with S2000 cars, as they are more stable.
I miss Macao, because it was always like some kind of "Olympic Games of Touring Cars", with all great drivers and teams coming there, from Germany (Schnitzer, AMG) or Britain, sometimes Australia. Especially in the years of Group A ans SuperTouring. And of course this city has special charisma, and the track is also not like others. I look forward to Villa Real, more than to Nürburgring. But i am not sure, if TC1 fits there. In my opinion, you need slower and more stable cars there. |

It's true that the Guia Race lost part of its identity in the WTCC era. But with the lack of a global touring car ruleset I think the race was bound to either stick with one big profile championship or fall into irrelevance.

I only see TCR in that tradition, if they can also attract good names of touring car drivers. It will be only another asian race, if there are only some unknown (but wealthy) Talents.
