I am not really a DTM fan, so I'm not reading everything about it.
Today, Grasser GRT are the first team that I do know that said they are interested in the new DTM GT format https://www.endurance-info.com/fr/gr...ogrammes-2021/ |

Before Grasser there were actually teams that voiced their interest, including WRT, Phoenix, ROWE, Walkenhorst.

Both have also started alternative programmes (LMP3, LMP2) because they were not sure DTM would or could continue. I didn't hear or read anything about ROWE or Walkenhorst, but that may well be the case. We'll see what happens. |

Another team that is linked with DTM entry is Haupt Racing Team. It takes just reading a bit of DTM-related stuff to have some suggestions. But, there are just rumours/unofficial info so to have everythinh confirmed takes some time.
Berger says there are over 40 teams interested but how many will actually pay the fee and put the sponsorships together to enter the championship? Time will tell. |

With driver aids permitted it's not that Extra Premium Ultra Glorious status as they shout (in Berger's head and through his mouth). Of course, it's obvious that without any help from marketing departments there is no hope to make any tech adjustments to that type of machinery. It would be unsafe to race without aids. Well, at least, I do not have the same bad feeling I have about GT2 amateurs unleashed. Some Lambo Tropheo accidents showed that it's not a brilliant idea.
Well, in the world where Hypercars are equipped with 670hp engines it's to difficult to analyze anything logically. By the way, if LM are Hypercars then NASCAR should be rated as Ubercars. Just thought. |

I can understand some driver aids, but too many go against it, but I hope we have GT3 series that retains some DNA of the series. Cars can be spectacular without all that tech. Have a few that are needed, but keep it simple. We don’t need to compare DTM to over series. NASCAR has it’s own identity, as do V8 Supercars and so should DTM, even if they have change the regs a bit

Let them start with GT3 cars without extra power or disabled driver aids.
DTM is not in a situation they can demand changes from manufacturers. Race for one or two seasons and maybe than they can become a GT3+ series. |

I think standard GT3 cars without any extra gadgets and the like is the way for DTM to go. It would keep as close to the old DTM silhouette as it can. We’ll see, maybe GT3 will actually improve the series after all

Do Germans have appetite to watch Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaros racing? Was there really no way at all to entice BMW or Mercedes to build a M8 or E63 Coupe to those regulations so it could race against Mustang and Camaro? |

Actually I think DTM with Supercars (or something close) would be a very good idea. The cars are exciting, fast and loud, something DTM definitely wants to be. And I think Supercars are cheaper than GT3 cars. I think it'd be possible to have BMWs, Audis, maybe Mercedes and something else racing. The switch to GT3 is however much easier as these are the cars that actually exist and there are many German (and based close to Germany) teams that own them. So it's just a decision where to field them. To make a new ruleset (even if it'd rely heavily on Supercars, it'd be new in Germany and Europe) requires more time and more money. But I believe DTM should look at combining Supercars spirit with (unfortunately but inevitably) electric engines for not-so-distant future.

DTM moving to Supercars rules would be great but it will not happen.

Rumours have it that DTM will announce its electric future tomorrow. There's a live stream tomorrow in the morning concerning the future of the championship.

Well enjoy the sound of the combustion engine this weekend if that’s the case

Thank Audi and Bild for spoiling this conference.
So, they will announce the future of DTM and DTM Trophy + DTM Classic (probably rebranded Tourenwagen Legenden that raced with them once this year at Nurburgring) and DTM Electric from 2023. Article in German about the last one |
