Last I read Conquest said he was there first choice with sponsorship. Without it as they are currently it was fair game. |

Conquest as far as I know is still looking for money and without it they may not last long.

Camara brought money to the seat last year so one would imagine if he's still got the coin Conquest will be at least a 1 car team.

As far as I know there has been no anouncement confirming Tagliani. The team has said that he is their target driver but he hasn't been confirmed as yet...and it is Camara, not Tags running in the Homestead test.
Montagny didn't say no to the IRL at the 908 press conference. He said that discussions were ongoing. He probably won't get a ride, at least not until after Le Mans...but it is still possible. As an added point Scheckter apparently has a full season sponsor...but no team. If this is true then don't be surprised to see him turn up somewhere. |

According to the Indy star Scheckter does not have a sponsor. He is talking to a company has shown interest but by no means is it a signed season long sponsor.
If the sponsor does sign this is where the fun begins, which team will be the winner. My guess would be Rahal Letterman or KV Racing. |

Here is the link to the Indy Star blog:
http://blogs.indystar.com/racingexp...ing_return.html "It specifically states "potential sponsor" and that Scheckter is trying to get a full-season deal done....trying and doing could be two different things altogether... But I hope it does work out for him.... |

Didn't Doornbos state on his site that there was an anticipated announcement on Feb. 17th with NHL??
It is the 18th and still no announcement....Hmmmm.... Also, the Indy Star blog by Curt Cavin stated that Vision will probably be a one-car team, as sponsorshipt for AJ Foyt IV has not been found yet...If Foyt is still looking by May, he'll probably run and Indy Only gig for his grandpa... |

It says on his website that there has been no anouncement because there are some things "the raceteam" needs to organize (aka a driver that tdoes pay on the agreed time possibly?????) |

Conquest "hopes" for two cars but says their two drivers (they probably hope for Tags and Camara) may have to share a single car.

Remember how the Billionaire Kevin Kalkhoven was going to bury the IRL???? The Hulman fortune (which is extensive, trust me) and Mari Hulman-George's commitment is still there...she really calls the shots as Chairman of the Board... Don't hold your breath waiting for him to go broke...it may be a while... Now to address the "Handout" issue.... Why should Tony George do handouts this year? Last year was understandable to help the transition teams get cars and engine leases so they could race....With one year under their belt, they will have to come up with the Honda lease money this year...Just like the existing IRL teams had to do last year, while the Champ Car got the needed transitional help.... I still anticipate somewhere between 20 and 22 cars on the grid full time this year, which is down just 3-4 from the average that they had last year...in these tough economic times, that's not bad... The handouts I do wonder about. The number of "patrons" or car manufacturers out there willing to pour huge sums into indycar racing right now seem to be few and far between or rather almost nonexistent. What's worse is the huge prize purses that used to exist back in the 1990's CART, don't really exist now. It's just another thing that sweetens the pot for those that compete. Numbers are low, teams are barely scrapping by(NHL and Milka ?) and it hardly seems the time to shirk from coming out of the trenches to fight. The TEAM program is stupid and about as exciting as CART's ESP program from 2003. What I'd rather see is some big prize purses to generate some interest. To me it's a sign they are barely scrapping by as a series and don't have the investment available anymore to grow. I don't think the finances are there as you believe. |

Yawn MS, heard it all before.
Oh and on the trackside radio show with Curt Cavin last night, he said Hunter Reay is nearly in at HVM, as he has backing from IZod and some smaller sponsors, plus TG is willing to add a bit of money to the pot if needed. John Andretti looking to run partial schedule as well maybe with DRR or Sarah Fisher, and Schekter has around 2.5 million in sponsorship money, might land at DRR. |

22 cars on the "entry list" for the Homestead test; there's a #19 and #20 TBA for DCR and a 3rd car #TBA from NHLR.
