Are these 2011 cars? I know Nissan Motorsports is having a show soon to announce their activities. Perhaps they'll show 2012 GTR SuperGT?

Yes, it is push-rod suspension.
Change of the suspension type is accepted in JAF-GT300/500. Therefore, almost all JAF-GT300 car has an in-board suspension. Although the supplier of the damper of BRZ is not announced, I think that it is a product made by SACHS. Sorry, it is made by Bilstein according to this blog. http://minkara.carview.co.jp/userid/...blog/25544383/ Last edited by Japanese Samurai; 23 Feb 2012 at 12:41. |

From the STI guy I asked at the last Tokyo Motor Show, it's basically an evolution of the 2l turbo from last year's Legacy. I wonder if they need to stretch it more to match the power surge from the GT3 cars this year and if it might become less reliable because of this.

I think it'll do fine with the extra power. Boxer engines are pretty strong.

Wonder how Krumm will do in the Nismo team. The car looks better than 2011's car. Can't wait till next month.

The 2012 GTR looks fast! I was hoping for a Honda fight back this year but after seeing Nissan's 2012 challenger and their driver line-up (which didn't change from last year, except for Krumm in Ben's place) I don't think Honda and their weak driver line-up have much of a chance, unless they bring a significantly faster car which I doubt knowing* that the development was in limbo during 2011 (because of the earthquake and tsunami that hugely affected Honda on all aspects) and that the only changes for this year is the update that was planed for mid 2011 season (unless they are completely lying - which is very unlike them).

Now that we know the full driver line-up from the 3 manufacturers in GT500 for 2012, my predictions as the main figures for the championship are:
#46 GTR Yanagida/Quintarelli (Duh!!) #23 GTR Motoyama/Krumm (Ben may be gone but Nissan was smart to call Krumm back. Anyone knows his quality and he has tons of experience in Skylines/GTRs. #39 SC430 Wakisaka/Ishiura (watch out for this pairing, in my opinion this will be the strongest Lexus team this year (and the michelins will play a part in that)). #6 SC430 Ito/Oshima #38 SC430 Tachikawa/Hirate Honda, meh... I really can't see a single team which gives me confidence for the championship. They have a few good drivers but continue to fail to create the right pairings. It's the same typical Honda pairing... good driver + bad driver combo. #18 lost Duval and in his place is the rookie Van Dame. I like the name () but he's still a newcomer so we'll have to see how he does. Still I think he will do good enough for me to put this team as the best hope for Honda in 2012. So, #18 HSV-010 Kogure/Van Dam #17 HSV-010 Kaneishi/Tsukakoshi (mainly because of Tsukakoshi) |

Good to see Hasemi-san back with the number #3. This is a bit of a mystery as the car was sporting the #52 during Sepang tests... Does that mean that Team Shift will eventually enter with a SLS as it was speculated before ?
Good also to see Sekiguchi under the Nissan wing. He was not "corporate" enough in his earlier years to fit in a constructor's program, but the kid is really fast. I think that Nissan will not regret their gamble. |

Aren't there clashes with WEC and SGT? With Toyota lauching a full campaign from Le Mans onwards with 2 cars (I think), what's gonna happen with Ishiura? Brazil and Fuji clash, as do China and Fuji...

SGT has said they can modify the dates to not clash with the WEC. This was said earlier in this thread.

Hi folks,
it is a pleasure to read your posts... 2012 will be fun for sure and Toyota and Nissan will most certainly be the key actors for many reasons: 1) Nissan is the defending champion and Toyota did not win the past two years, so now it is time for them 2) their drivers line-ups are strong. 3) they have both been working hard on their cars 4) Within each manufacturers we have a tire battle... Sad for Honda but because of all this Toyota/Nissan will for sure attract most of the attention. Cheers! |

I wouldn't count out Honda yet, we may not think their drivers are the best, but they may pull a surprise!
