United Autosports confirms 2012 Bathurst 12 Hour participation:
http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/artic...hurst-enduros/ - Team has opted to enter the R8(/s) (not the MP4-12C). - Number of entries/lineups not yet confirmed - based on past appearances, 2x Audi R8 seems a reasonable expectation (unconfirmed, however). Edit: Team will enter 1x Audi R8 (confirmed by Dagys). Last edited by R4z3rw33n; 27 Oct 2011 at 14:17. |

Probably not likely, however it would be nice to see them throw another local into their R8, along the lines of what Audi did at this years B12. A bit of local knowledge at Bathurst wouldn't go astray. Who knows, Mr Skaife may be interested, plus the fact that it would certainly create a lot of interest in the 2012 race... Lowndes(?) v Skaife on the mountain in R8's.

Utilising the skills of a local driver would definitely make sense from multiple perspectives (e.g. circuit knowledge/awareness, local sponsor backing, media exposure - it's unclear as to whether they consider the latter two factors as high a priority as any factory squad - i.e. Audi/Lowndes). I'd heard it was in relation to a drive with a local amateur operation. Both he and the (rumoured) team would likely receive backing - as you've highlighted. Seems fairly unlikely we'll see said outfit donning a completely (or majority) professional lineup, however. It would be nice, though. |

That's some pretty damn good news.
Unclear as to whether Black Falcon's entries are the result of factory backing. Seems a pretty safe assumption, though. No confirmation from Hackett yet, either - potentially related. Quote:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrnsT8DJvds Both entries are represented via the Creventic provisional listings: http://www.12hbathurst.com/?page=557 Currently confirmed GT3 entries (via provisional listings): - 2x Phoenix Audi R8 LMS. - 1x UAS Audi R8 LMS. - 2x Black Falcon SLS AMG. - 1x Huglin LP560. - 1x Lago LP600. - 1x VDS Adventures Mustang. - 1x Maranello Motorsport 458. - 1x A2B Racing Porsche 997 GT3 Cup. Hope Tony Quinn is wrong about the locals not running, the race really needs a good field of GT3 cars to make it a success. Nine or Ten cars isn't anywhere near enough, still it's only early days yet. |

VDS Adventures still have the 12 hour listed on their schedule, also: http://www.vds-racing.be/vds/index.p...d=69&Itemid=58 Nine-ten GT3 entries is likely enough for a pretty decent race. I'm not denying a larger field isn't an improvement - an increase in class/field size would be spectacular. The organisers have already seemingly delivered a significant improvement over the volume, and quality of (GT3) entries in the 2011 entry list. Increased local representation is the only area slightly lacking. It still remains unclear as to whether Phoenix/Black Falcon will operate independently or, in cooperation with their local customer counterpart efforts. The entry list is still provisional. It seems fairly reasonable to expect the addition of at least one, or multiple local entries. Waiting game time. Last edited by R4z3rw33n; 11 Nov 2011 at 05:41. |

Testing for the Bathurst 12 Hour is underway at the Mountain this weekend, under the guise of DriveBathurst 2011.
Whispers from the big hill are just like... WOW!! Independent timekeepers have been keeping an eye on a number of cars out there pedalling hard... Well.. it seems this car.. .. is doing its level best to burst into the record books... It has been said that this car, with its Danish pilot, has hit the top of the pops today, time wise. While undergoing a testing a setup development regime, for its first time at the Mountain, and on a set of tyres losing their grip as the laps on them increase, and during the heat of the day... ... allegedly... a mid 2.06 was achieved!! Still some more set up work to come, as well as a run on brand new rubber. While the sound is apparently an eargasm... as you might expect a high revving Ferrari to be... Awesome stuff!! Bring on the B12!!! |

It's a bit disappointing that we aren't getting more up to date news on the 12 hour, from their website. We are now down to a little over 3 months to the event. With more news such as, the times from yesterdays Drive Bathurst day and latest entries etc, that would be pertinent to promoting the race, they should be improving their game in this area, and updating the site more regularly.

Think that is a bit of a resouces issue...someone can only be in so many places at once.
Plus entries don't close till 1 December or thereabouts (at least for the internationals) so from that sense at least, probably not too much you can do. |

Fantastic news! Anymore details? Remains to be seen in they do the same as Audi and do one Aussie car and one car with factory drivers. Hopefully we see some factory pilots in the mix like Jager and Bernd Schneider.
