Agreed toby, and JW saying that should put an end to those who seem intent on laying blame on JC!

I thought it was nice seeing a Triple 8 car getting it up the butt for a change, instead of giving it.

TSR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Just watching a replay of R1 and since when did Turn 8 become the fastest corner in v8 racing, I always thought the Chase at Bathurst was. But on lap one of R1 Matt White said as the cars go through turn 8 the cars are going through the fastest and craziest turn in v8 supercar series. Yeh Right.

I am not sure if the ratings from Clipsal has been discussed so far but came across these figures:

Saturday had ratings of 338,000 down from 508,000 in 2009.
Sunday had ratings of 476,000 down from 620,000 in 2009
http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2010/03/week-11-2.html
http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2010/03/week-12-3.html

Worrying figures considering the mainstream media push that V8SA has put $11 million into and continues the poor rating from the middle eastern races.

Didn't the ratings measurement methodology change for this year? From memory I think that if a programme was recorded it no longer was included for 2010 although it used to be? There were estimates of drop offs in ratings numbers as a result.

In addition to that, you'd need to look at the share of the total audience, not just raw numbers - it is the comparison to other shows that is the really meaningful outcome normally.

Having said that, if the ratings are down further than expected with the change of measurement or down in comparison to other programmes compared to last year then yes, I'm sure that VESA would be worried.

Interesting that on the middle east races question, TC was quoted recently as saying that Bahrain was up ratings wise to the last time it was on air.

Quite possible Tourer, can anyone here confirm?

Looking at Saturday the v8s were 21st most watched show that day. Comparative shows that outrated it included SBS Football (Soccer) World Cup show with 550,000, NAB CUp final with 542,000 & Paralympic Games - Vancouver with 425,000.

Sunday - the v8s were the 19th most watched show. Comparatively the v8's outrated the NRL match by 20,000 viewers, however while V8's were shown in all states the NRL only drew viewers from Sydney and Brisbane.

That can't say too much for the ratings from the event in 2009.

You and Peter McKay appear to be the only two that keep worrying about this sort of stuff . . .

I would be amazed if the 7 network, series promoter, teams and sponsors did not also take an interest or worry about declining tv ratings?

Maybe you can expand Green Hornett

Seems a general trend with reports of AFL, Tennis, Soccer and Rugby all having a drop in viewers.

Well since you asked!
How come no mention of the Bathurst 12 Hour ratings? Same network.

Best it achieved in percentage points is 2.9% in Adelaide (Supercars 14.4 on the Saturday).
Sydney rated best was 1.4% and beaten by Dinosaurs On Ice and Horse Racing.
Brisbane hit 1.5% at the third quarter of hour one but dropped when 2's QRL came on.
Perth started at 2.0% but the WAFL came on and that was the end of that.
Melbourne had the same story as Sydney but only got 1.3% and even F-Troop out pointed there.

Now the Supercars aren't exactly a ratings winner either - no motor racing is . . . and for the recond the Saturday best for Supercars were 4.1 Perth, 4.7 Brisbane, 4.1 Sydney, 3.6 Melbourne.

My point is you attack the Supercars at every opportunity - why not get over it and move onto another sport?

The Bathurst 12 hour doesn't rely on tv figures to survive and drive the event. It is a buy time system. There isn't any expectation for it to deliver figures comparative to V8's.

Why is reporting tv figures all of a sudden seen as attacking a sport. This forum reports on crowds and tv figures when they are big, why not report on them when they are down?

This isn't a forum for V8 apologists is it?
