With Scuderia Ecosse I agree with Mr Bentley, shame about the tyres but perhaps once again the secret is in the budget provider so we have the top Porsche on Pirelli with new driver partner and Ferrari. AF Corse announcing drivers, what about their tyres, Pirelli again?,,, just Master Edwards on Michelin?

It looks like Michelin for AF Corse.

Unlikely, Maserati have said that when the MC12 finishes the end of its life cycle that they will be back with a new GT1 car. The car in the above mentioned link looks more like a GT2 or GT3 car to me, and so does the power outputt.

Well basically Ecosse have switched to Pirelli for financial reason, they would have given them quite a bit of sponsorship money, free tyres and all the backup needed.

If there was not the financial support, you would not see Tim and Enge/Janis together.

Well Michi will be the best at the start, but im sure Pirelli will put a lot of effort into making their tyres better.

Wow at the competition this year, it's going to be ****ing awsome! I really can't wait to start beating these guys

AF Corse confirmed on Michelin and Vitaphone too (Mirko had the news)...

about the other news... the "porsche P1 news" was just an idea wrote (not by me) after an old interview with Penske from american le mans...

the Alfa-Maserati-Ferrari GT article is written by me... in brief it says that:
-very probably no new Maserati GT1
-possible to have a "new" F430 road model in the next year (2008) and Ferrari might get it's interest back in GT1 with 599 which was rumored to being developed but then stopped...
-IMHO very possible to see Alfa 8C Competizione on track, next year... with FIAT interested in WTCC (and Alfa in it's last season with the lovely 156... which is also my road car ) and Ferrari that migth be interested in coming back in GT1 and no plans at all for Maserati it seems possible

AF Corse is definitely making a bid for team to beat in GT2 this year. The driver lineup and tire combo is excellent, and if they have the same level of factory support as last year...

Glad you didnt say anything about eating hats Sean !!!

But yeah ..... im hoping that Ferrari get their nose rubbed in it a little this year , i reckon there is a little too much faith in the 430 GTC , Porsche know their sums , and know them better than anybody , in my opinion anyway .

Hope you have to fight for it though , that is what its all about afterall . Best of luck .

So this Brewer Saleen project then. Two professional American's ex Indycar, with recent Grandam and lots of experience?

Hmm who could they be?.....

Memo Gidley, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Alex Barron??

Also did anyone note the other news that Race Alliance are going to run both their DBR9's this year?

Great news about the Saleen ..... strange that they have entered the Fia GT instead of the ALMS , in their own back yard .....

I suppose a Le Mans entry would be out of the question !!!

I'll believe the Brewer Saleen(s) when I see it (them). Wasn't he behind that ultra successful Champ Car team with Giorgio Pantano driving and Sunoco sponsorship???

Pleased to see Sean confirm what I suspected about money from Pirelli to SE and then very interesting that AF Corse, having run with full Pirelli support in 2006 have gone to Michelin this year, presumably because they saw what the SE cars did to them last year. SE must have needed the money but did a great deal to get those drivers. I think Sean is correct and some hard work will be done by Pirelli

The list by mirkob shows that Porsche will still want some more cars.

I keep looking for the definition of the mandatory two pit stops, anybody found that yet? GG or Eddsc?

There's a search function on this board.

I encourage people to use it on the team owner before getting too excited about the team announcement.

For anyone not familiar with it, Graham's comment refers to the Silverstone LMS race in 2005, when Dana Brewer was supposed to drive a Graham Nash Saleen, and in the words of Graham Nash:

"I spoke to him last night, but he’s not here today. In all my years of doing this, I’ve never known a driver not turn up”

Looking at comments in DSC's coverage of that race (seems it's not the first time this has happened, to put it mildly...) and some of the reactions on here, maybe this is one to file in the 'believe it when you see the cars on the track' category?
