Thanks for the link.
Just so I am think about this correctly, the P2 engine is 2.8 liters, and the DP is 3.5? That sounds like a lot of work to increase engine capacity by 25%. |

Honda isn't new to racing, nor is its management stupid. To race and win in sports cars in the U.S. Honda needs to have a DP. Since the TUSC convention has been to call out the engine source instead of the chassis (he who pays ... ) Honda can run a generic chassis and compete overall and get lots of publicity. They can call the dang thing a Civic or an Accord and the announcers will repeat it.
Who among us wouldn't chuckle to hear "The Starworks Honda Accord beats the WTR Corvette across the line for the win!" ? On the other hand, Honda wants to be involved in real sports car racing, which nowadays means WEC (with customer options in ELMs and AsLMS) so they build the new P2 coupe. I don't see any conflict. |

The potential conflict mentioned above is referring to the fact that 2-4 of the new HPD coupes are on tap for TUSC next season. It could be strange to be competing with those cars against a DP engined Honda. This wouldn't be unprecedented though with Toyota supplying customer P1 engines to run in other chassis.

This is so wrong in many levels unless the Honda DP is branded as an Acura NSX. Rather than having a NSX DP, why not bring the NSX GT500 car at TUSC instead! |

Honda has been playing with the devil for far too long. This tug of war between the Honda's, rebadged Acura's, Honda NSX, Acura NSX, Acura ARX 01b (quickest P2 car ever built), HPD ARX 3b is starting to come apart...
Now this "Honda-Riley" DP (from HPD) is competing against this "HPD" P2. Meanwhile the sportiest car of the Honda brand is an Acura NSX! I'm confused, they're confused. We're all confused... To make matters worse. The future direction for Acura is to move away from the rebadged Accords, and Civic's to make their own platforms and cars. How will they reconcile that American's get the "Acura NSX" while the Japanese people don't even know what an Acura is... |

That's easy, the DP one!
(Sorry, too sweet a straight line .... ) The real fun starts when ione of them commits a foul---I guess Race Control will roll dice to decide which gets the penalty. Or maybe ... just give it to a random Porsche, there are so many ... |

I have heard that the two different Honda engines are based on completely different blocks, the 2.2 on a 60-degree V and the 3.5 on a newer, stronger engine 90-degree V. Not sure ... my memory is pretty unreliable on the best of days ... and those day s were long ago.

Honda HR22tt 2.2L V6tt 75-degree V is a full on race engine. Honda HR35tt and HR28tt V6tt 60-degree V are built of the production SOHC V6 J35 Engine that is in the Accord,MDX and Odyssey. Honda is working on a new production DOHC 3.5L V6tt 90-degree V engine that will be in the new NSX and most likely would find it's self in the HPD/Wirth ARX-04b. |

There isn't any sign of HPD teams for WEC or Le Mans yet. Or is there?

Jokes aside. I'm thinking Pagenaud (after they sign him in Indycars), and Montagny. Montagny vs Montoya in DP's would be real fun |

So it's like an Audi AND a Ferrari. |

Well, the Honda NSX was aiming to be on-par or slightly get ahead against the R8 and 458 Italia, just like its predecessor.

Three things interesting I see... yes, it does look like an R8 in general shape, especially the rear. Secondly, the nose looks very similar to the 2014 Civic! And thirdly, it looks like it has those color pallettes on the nose like the Porsche 919 had during testing.
