Mini is no longer a manufacturer, just a brand of BMW really, but what the heck, loved the mini marco's when they turn up for the classic

Nothing strange about that. The public's high regard of 'other' companies is based on their efforts (both in road cars and racing) that appeal to car/racing enthousiasts. It's up to Korean automakers to persuade the public.

Daewoo went bust and thus, became Chevy brand in Europe so technically is already in sportscar racing

There is a long standing rumor of a mid engine 458 competitor coming from Porsche. If true it's still a few years off probably 2016. Who knows if they will build it much less race it. Best not to worry about it too much. The new car is just getting started. I think it makes more sense to speculate about when they put the new engine in it.

Apologies for posting this here (couldn't find the Aston Martin thread).
According to a friend who was there and has photographic proof, Aston Martin was testing at Donington on Thursday with the Vantage, and interestingly, the B09/60. Anyone know what that is about? Thought most those cars were owned by collectors these days? Might be nothing, but given David Richards' recent comments about about a return to LMP1... Feel free to shoot that idea down in flames. |

I doubt they would attempt another go at prototypes, they are doing OK with the GT's and I think that is where they are concentrating all of thier efforts

Got to agree. That Aston LMP is my all time favourite prototype. It looks fantastic and the sound.... God that sound! Through the esses and approaching Arnage it was a wailing shriek never to be forgotten. The exhaust sound at full chat was just incredible. So glad I went to the Nürburgring to see all 3 of them again in 2009 as well. The race was crap (as is the circuit for spectators) but I would have gone anywhere to hear that car again.

The fact that DBR9 and lola-aston had a so different sound being powered by the same engine always intrigued me. To put your hands on a lola-aston you just need 700.000€ and hope that jan charouz did not already sell his chassis.

Vastly different exhaust configurations, the DBR9 exhaust pipes exited through the side skirts of the car, and the exhaust pipes on the Lola exited side-by-side at the same point at the rear of the car.

Yeah, i suspected that it was because different exhaust. But also because the DBR9 engine used to rev at 6500, the lola-aston unit over 7500.
