Does anybody else think it is strange that driver changes are mandatory in 60 minute races?
I was looking at the "regulations" tab on the gt1world site and they say "The maximum success ballast that can be attributed is 100kg" Which is fine, except for on the very next line they say that the maximum is actually 150kg.... |

Fantastic shots from the opening test. Does anyone know anything about TV coverage? Will there be online coverage like last year? Frankly dont care about TV as long as I can watch it online.

It appears that Mike Hezemans will be teamed up with Andreas Zuber in one of the Phoenix Corvettes. I don't know anything about Zuber. We all know that Hezemans can drive a Vette with the best of them, but what can you tell me about Zuber? Will he be an asset or a liability?

So if Hezemans is teaming up with Zuber then who's in the other car? Hopefully Fassler. And could Longin could be driving a Triple H Maserati this year? http://www.gt1world.com/images/galle..._test_2_56.jpg One way or another the two tone paint scheme really works well with the MC12.
Some nice liveries this year especially Mad Croc and the Hexis Aston. |

Yes, Bert Longin looks set to team with Altfrid Heger in one of the Triple H MC12s. Zuber is an interesting choice for the Phoenix car, but we have seen several drivers with lukewarm open-wheel careers prove to be fast in sportscars.
Speaking of similar drivers, though this one climbed a little higher, it's good to see Enrique Bernoldi with Thomas Mutsch in a Matech Ford. That is a quick lineup! |

Yeah I just noticed that on Planetleman's entrylist. So no Fassler. Bit of a shame. But happy to see Bernoldi back this year, he did really well last year and paired with Mutsch, they'll should be up the pointy end.

Good for Hennerici, though.

Have to say I'm really liking the driver announcements that we're getting... Moser, Mackowiecki, Hennerici, Bouchout, Kox... Lots of fun names I didn't really expect to see in the field. This might actually be a fun series to follow.

Suppose it is slightly off topic, but Ratel has confirmed a game of the new GT1 World Championship, a possible GTR3 if you will to promote and raise awareness of the championship. Suppose its only a good thing really. Needless to say, if you believe the hype that is developing around this announced title already. It should be something pretty special.

I was just looking around on the fia gt1 world championship website, and I saw the Durban track is exactly the same track A1GP used? When did they announce that? Or they never did and just put up a map of that track now?

The FIA GT1 World Championship web-site shows Mika Salo and Oliver Gavin driving the same car for Mad-Croc Racing. That pair could kick some serious ass (if Salo doesn't run anyone into the ditch). Too bad Ollie has some conflicts and probably will have to miss a race or two because of his ALMS commitments.

Havent heard much from Vitaphone on their driver lineup this year. I think we can safely assume that Bartels and Bertolini will share one car but the other? I see Anthony Davidson is test driver this year. Good on him. |

Mad Croc have now added Bernoldi and Maasen as well. They will have a solid lineup for their two cars.
