I wonder if Audi is using too much "marketing" technology versus technology that is more tried and true. I don't know about that though. It's hard to think that they have been so outclassed in almost every way (speed, execution, reliability, driving, etc.), but hey, maybe we should give Peugeot some credit too. They've done what was thought to be impossible.

Still, it almost seems like the ARX-01e has had a better ILMC season than the R18 aside from Le Mans. Obviously the ARX-01e isn't better, but at least it met/exceeded expectations for one race. The R18 hasn't done that anywhere except Le Mans. It's mind boggling really.

While I feel that Peugeot is not getting enough credit indeed, it is somewhat of their own fault as they mostly fail to perform the one time each year when the world is looking at sports car racing.

Peugeot definitely has to improve their Le Mans batting average. One Le Mans means more than 2-3 championships IMO. Still, a lot of people think that Audi and Toyota has more of an aura than Peugeot. Well, it was a long time ago, but Peugeot owned Toyota back in the day and Peugeot owns Audi most of the time now. Maybe Peugeot is the secret king after all.

Well if we talk sports cars only, nobody can argue that Peugeot is miles ahead of Toyota. They had the beautiful GT-One which everybody loved but that car was no real success either and neither were most of their Group C efforts.

Audi is a bit out of reach, they´ve build a remarkable heritage in sports car racing, even though one can argue that a good share of their success was based on no real competitors being around for many years.

It will be interesting to see how Peugeot does against Porsche come 2014. Beating Porsche at Le Mans would give them huge bragging rights and do wonders for their sports car racing heritage.

Wow, quite the horror year for Tom K. No win, no single race lap at Le Mans...yikes.

I think we can take some pretty good guesses about who will be the full-time drivers for Peugeot next year, but what about Audi? Lotterer and/or Treluyer would be great, but they have other commitments and it seems there will be some Super GT and WEC clashes. Bernhard makes sense, but do you continue to pair him with Fassler? Fassler hasn't been that bad so I think you would have to consider him. What about McNish and TK?

I think both McNish and TK are safe despite their bad season. Audi can't really afford to let McNish go and TK is worth his money for Audi Denmark alone I guess.

The other drivers are more of a problem, aside from Rockenfeller and Fässler all other drivers of their current squad are just on loan. Lotterer is likely to go to Toyota I think, if Nissan is the rumored other Japanese manufacturer then they can kiss Treluyer goodbye as well.

The Porsche guys are gone by 2014 as well so if worse comes worse, Audi has 5+ seats to fill in the coming years.

The #94 R8 is beached quite close to the track. FCY possibility?

EDIT: Safety car

EDIT2: Maybe not. There is confusion whether there is FCY or not. It seems we have FCY but no safety car. Odd.

Is Rocky committed to the DTM next year? That would obviously rule him out if he is. I wonder if all these DTM conflicts could end up being beneficial to Audi. Maybe they can use it as an excuse to get some fresh blood into the organization.

They threw a FCY without a safety car. Someone pulled an oops. The bottom line is that there is no safety car.

Love how the RLM guys are questioning McNish why they have been off the pace the whole year...

Audi has more suitable drivers that cockpits for the DTM in 2012 so I wouldn't be surprised to see Rockenfeller doing sports cars, he always seemed more like a sports car guy to me and hasn't been one of Audi's top performers in the DTM.

Fresh blood is definitely needed at Audi on the sports car side, with so many manufacturers coming in there actually could be a shortage of suitable works drivers in the coming years.
