MitchZ06 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
It's the Conquest livery with different colours.

http://as-web.jp/news/info.php?c_id=2&no=46945

This article suggests that GT300 cars entered in the Fuji round of the Asian Le Mans Series will score points for Super GT as well as get a reduced entry fee for the race.

That's good to see. I think they will be great on the grid with the GTE and GTC cars.

BBT confirmed with Gallardo FL2. They are a Carrera Cup Asia/Super Trofeo Asia team.

Word on the street is that Atlantic Racing Team has already purchased 2x Lola B12/80 that was run by Lotus/Kodewa last year.

MotorsTV just tweeted that the Asian series start has been pushed back to August and no GTE (just GTC).

Concludes with the fair comment that it's "not looking fantastic".

Yup. Apparently this too:

The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will race as part of the re-launched Asian Le Mans Series on three occasions this season: In China’s Pearl River Delta region at the Zhuhai International Circuit; at Inner Mongolia’s unforgiving Ordos track; and at South Korea’s brand new Inje Autopia Circuit.

Combined grid or support event like F1?

Could have predicted this the day the series was launched, Brett sums it up in his post.

John Dagys article is here.

Quote:
he start of the re-launched Asian Le Mans Series has been delayed, with the initial six-round championship, due to kick off next month in China, now being reduced to four races, beginning mid-year.

The announcement came Tuesday by series organizers, along with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, which confirmed the elimination of the Chinese rounds in Shanghai and Ordos, with the original season-opening race at Zhuhai now being moved to the third round of the season in October.

The season will now begin at the new Autopia circuit in Inje, South Korea on August 4, followed by rounds at Fuji Speedway (Sept. 22), Zhuhai (Oct. 13) and the season-ending race in Sentul, Indonesia (Dec. 8), as originally scheduled.
New entry deadline is June 20. No GTE class but the top two finishers in GTC get an invite to Le Mans to run in GTE there.

Given the price they were likely going to have to pay to run at Shanghai, I'm not surprised that that one got dropped. I could have done without Ordos on the calendar, so I'm kind of glad it's been dropped as well.

Now, we have one round each in China, Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia.

I seem to recall that they tried this idea before......and it never got off the ground then.

And lo and behold, it isn't getting off the ground now.

Why do they keep bothering with this stuff?

Le Mans Series in Asia

Depends what you consider:
- 2008 1 race in Shanghai cancelled
- 2009 2 races in Okayama; 1 event in Shanghai cancelled
- 2010: 1 race in Zhuhai (with ILMC)
- 2013: 4 races planned

And than you have Fuji 1999 uand Adelaide 2000 which where stand-alone events. Don Panoz planned a race in Malaysia for 2001 but the whole Asian-Pacific Le Mans Series was cancelled.

In 2006 and 2007, there was the Japan Le Mans Challenge...

I suggest to speak of at least three attempts...

I think the important information in the story above is that ACO are so desperate to make this series work that they're willing to let GT3 cars (as GTC) race at Le Mans, something that they have always said that they wouldn't do. Also they say that they will do their own bop and the winners will be given an entry in the GTE class in 2014, all very interesting.

That sounds very... determined... to make it work. Let's see how that fits into the whole evolution of GT classes within the realm of ACO and FIA.

Better than the third event in Shanghai that has to be cancelled .

But yes: Sepang seems to be the most solid choice.

It doesn't say that at all, it says the the GTC winners will have an invite to race a GTE car at Le Mans the following year. That still means that team has to find a car suitable for racing there.
