Peugeot wins again.
With a bit of patience Audi had won the race. |

What a dramatic race! Can't wait till 2 weeks time! Good finish by everyone, good to see Pescarolo back on the podium at last and hope Ortelli makes a swift and happy recovery from his injuries.

Audi have won more than their fair share of ALMS races by out muscling the opposition. |

yup, it's no mistery that the big manufacturers have the regulations their way pretty much, over all the others. but audi and peugeot are both major manufacturers, with peugeot and aco being both french. it's a strange coincidence that peugeot were always so obviously better than their entire competition all the time under aco's regs: both in 92-93 and in 08.

it should be noted that the Charouz Lola was constantly waster than the #2 Audi when it run .. it's fastest lap .. 34.1 being very competitive .

the bottom line being that peugeot woudn't have risked all those moves - cutting the chicane, passing next to that tractor and hitting the audi instead of having their penalty done - which normally would have made them lose the race, if they woudn't have known aco will back them. it just looked so planned. to me, it's a shame, beucase peugeot really looked so powerful and respectful, but now i'm beginning to think their advantage is nothing more than aco hoping for a french victory at le mans.

Really terrifice race. Hate that it had to end that way so controversially. Just makes me look forward to Spa that much more. Have to say having RLM available here in the states made the race that much more enjoyable. I think we're a couple races into a historic sports car season on both sides of the pond. LeMans this year could be a true classic!
P.S. Thanks a ton to Johnathan France and Embassy for making RLM possible. P.S.S. Congrats to Ian Bickerton and Creation for coming back from that shunt and getting a well deserved 4th in a brand new 2nd car. Look forward to big things from that team the rest of the year. |

In 91 Peugeot were humbled by Jaguars XJR-14, they upped their game, but the only opposition was Toyota with a pretty conservative, unreliable car. Today Peugeot are up against a 2+ year old R10, a car that has already been beaten consistently by the RS Spyder. Maybe it's an unfortunate coincidence Le Mans has been dominated for the past 20 years by the German Audi and Porsche brands, and US Corvette and Dodge teams............ |

Sure the 908 has a diesel engine and the Lola a GT1 Aston Martin motor, but it can't have gone unnoticed they are both slippery, efficient coupes, who not only have a top speed advantage, but look more stable in the twisty stuff and under braking. |

audi's r10 is an incredibly fast car in 2008 - a record breaking car. and this is the first really good explanation - resulting from objective factors after monza 2008 - for peugeot being that much faster than the record-breaking racecar of one of the finest german manufacturers in the world. Ortelli's crash: http://youtube.com/watch?v=52wUHuZ7fqI
Lamy needs a slap in the face for the screwup under yellows. Can't say about the that other thing, maybe 50-50, at least it feels too stupid to be totally intentional. I'd like to see longer clip of it with showing how they were exactly positioned before braking. Lamy was clearly having some kind of mental blackout during the past few laps so would like to believe it was accidental. End result might be controversial, but at this point this kind of heat and sparking between two teams can be only good for the series. - Last edited by deggis; 27 Apr 2008 at 17:24. |

The crash in the oreca courage must reopen discussion over the safety issues. The LMP1 regs were revamped many years ago to prevent what we saw at Monza from happening. I can see further moves to further alter some of the aero features. thank goodness, Ortelli is OK. that was one of the worst crashes that I have seen .
