Probably. The 4th is supposed to include the driver announcements. The 5th is the wec press conference so they may just reiterate their commitment to this year and next. I hope they go more into detail, but the most I expect is drivers and a possible team name change.

On the basis that I design high performance engines for a living, am a chartered engineer, and design manager for a 20 billion Euro powertrain technology company, plus I specialize in boosting systems design and development - it is true.....what on earth are you talking about gearboxes for?.....

Biggest thing that makes engine selection not so straight forward is the fuel flow meters and torque sensors, especially the former. In the old air restrictor days, you'd tend to want to at least get fairly close to the biggest engine size you could run, because even if power was limited, you could still benefit from the added torque.
Now, though, it's about hybrid power and how to use it, while the fuel flow meters do make things easier on smaller engines because the flow tends to limit how long larger engines can use their power and torque. Basically, it's run as big and powerful a hybrid system as you can run, even if that means compromising ICE performance somewhat, but yet using the hybrid system as a force multiplier to offset any compromises with the engine. That's exactly what Audi have done with sticking with forced induction on all their LMP cars, why Judd kept increasing the capacity of their V10 engines over the years, why Audi and Toyota went hybrid when the rules allowed for it, and why Audi, Porsche and Toyota are running with the biggest and most powerful hybrid systems that they can basically run right now. |

He might be a/the new reserve driver. Japanese Samurai linked in another thread that he may be doing elms this year. Give him some running in a p2 then plug him in the (possible) third car next year?

Hillarious. I for one don't see any problems for Toyota to select the right gearbox configuration. |

Ryo Hirakawa had tested Toyota TS040 at Motor land Aragon.
This test was held by TMG. 4 drivers drove TS040. Other driver's career are F1 reserve and test driver, WEC LMP1, Formula Renault 3.5, GP2, Indy car, WTCC. He says that he was behind for 1 second, and behind for 0.3 second on the 1st day. 2nd day, he marked the equal time from the top. http://ryo-hirakawa.com/archives/11461 Last edited by Japanese Samurai; 29 Jan 2016 at 07:42. |

I know autocar isn't the best place for rumors, but this was interesting:

Bogus rumor. The wrc team is still going to use TMG, just not as their base of operations. Not sure where that rumor came from tbh, but it previously floated on around here a few months ago... probably the same sources!

Hopefully they will show more than just the new livery tonight. I was curious to see more than some blurry photos of new car but will wait till tomorrow. Need some sleep!

Car looks similar to the 040, but hard to tell. Koby in the car, about time!

TMG did release a video (on their Facebook page at least) showing some shots of the car that are either blurry or distant. And indeed, it does look a lot like the TS040 in 2015 spec. I'm sure that there's differences, but there are undeniable similarities, even given the (intentionally) crap quality of the photos.
Show car shot is probably a TS040. |
