Seems without Aston Martin you can watch Ford finish 1,2 in all races.

I think it is clear that in 2016 that GTLM will be superior to GTE-Pro in depth and quality. Aston Martin should take a part of their multi-car effort and move it to GTLM in North American for a full season 2016 run.

Aston Martin have always said they want to race in the USA again but cant do so without it being paid for by sponsorship or a wealthy driver. Hence why Dalla Lana has been in the car at Daytona and Sebring the last couple of years.

I actually fail to see an issue with this. GTE costs are getting way, way, way out of control.

Stop sales on all TDI Audi's with the 3L v6 have just been confirmed for the U.S. Stop sales on the Porsche Macan... but MS Total may be reaching a bit, we'll see.

The Porsche GTE program was at risk before the VW scandal. With the jump in GTE next year to accommodate the Ford GT (which really is basically a prototype in the same vein as the late 90s GT1s), Porsche would've had to sink a bit of money into the GTE Project, only to bin the car a year later.

No stop order on Macan. There is a unrelated call back on some cars due to possible fuel leaks.
Stop order was on Cayene Diesels.

I was told weeks before the scandal that Manthey Porsche would exit the WEC to concentrate on a GT3R program. I don't know if that plan is still on with the scandal and stuff, but it had nothing to do with the scandal.

They way I see it (and I don't follow GT as much) is that it seems that Porsche might be taking a year off as a full factory effort in GTE-Pro due to the phase in of the ACO's GTE Evo rules, as I'd like to call them. One, Porsche don't want to continue as a factory effort with a now "old" car to be BOP'd to keep up with the new or revised cars. Also, it seems that Porsche don't want to spend a lot of time, energy, and money to build a hybrid spec car part way between the current and future regs just to build a new car for 2017.

Also, unlike IMSA, Porsche still has an LMP1 program where they can demonstrate their hybrid tech, something that's currently now allowed in GTE, and doesn't seem to factor into the rules in the near future.

Simply put, Porsche want one factory program in both the WEC and IMSA, and I think that the WEC GT program might come back as a factory effort when the new GTE rules are totally phased in for 2017.

Maybe its good PR to blame it on the scandal, then they can say "Hey look we are doing this to save money, so we can spend it on correcting our misstake". Little did they know it was actually planned before the scandal...

As long as they come back with the proper new generation GTE car for 2017 I have no problem with them not being there in 2016.

Looks much better than the 458 GTE (which honestly I didn't like that much) and even the old F430 and 360.

Of course this problem is avoided for the next-gen Porsche GTE already (v2017, if it still comes), not part of the engine in the way of a diffuser family tree.
