Shapovalov's private team project is shipwrecked because his elusive financier has gone off.
Some of Coronel's sponsors haven't still given the support for the 2017 season. Coronel usually covers most of the budget for team ROAL, in this moment the amount of money is not enough to take part in the championship. |

It would be sad if Coronel wouldn't make it, on the other hand WTCC isn't what it used to be. I'd love to see Tom in TCR though.

I'm surprised we haven't had any WTCC-2 TCN entries yet

There's no shortage of cars. I thought at least someone would have taken the drive, or is it going to be padded out with local one-off entries and no-one doing the full season.

It's not an attractive prospect, it's clear the class only exists because they don't think they can get enough TC1 cars and you'll get minimal to no TV coverage.
I think people learnt their lesson the last time there was a class like this in the WTCC. |

But there's so many other series to run the cars in that will be a) cheaper and b) better cater for the cars.

Looks like the series isn't fashionable anymore and people are now turning to TCR for a more cost effective championship. It's interesting to see what Coronel does now

Very cool, and being a Dutch Volvo-owner Catsburg will be the one I'm rooting for this year Sorry Tom

Good lineup, though I might have gone for Guerrieri instead of Girolami looking from the outside. And Catsburg is probably the better (and more long-term) choice, but it would have been really fun to see Tarquini in that seat.
Also, nice to see Bernadotte haning out with the other three drivers in the press photos. I feel what they should do (but aren't going to) is, if they're building three new cars, send the 2/3 2016 cars to Campos. Have them run a B squad with Bernadotte and Coronel - good PR for all involved! |

I'd expect those old cars in the Gothenburg museum, if indeed they have built new ones, along with the V8 supercars

I'm a big Volvo nerd, so seeing them strengthening their lineup like that is excellent.

Very glad to see Catsburg stay
IMO, Volvo has the strongest driver line-up, they have a real shot at the title subject to the car performance. |

No announcements by Eurosport Events when the closing date to submit Season entries has been passed (friday the 24th), that means none new entries (otherwise they would have shouted it all around the world). So at the moment we have a sadly 11 cars only grid
Correct me if I'm wrong: 3 official Honda Civic by JAS Motorsport (Monteiro, Michelisz, Michigami) 3 official Volvo S60 by Polestar Cyan Racing (Bjork, Girolami, Catsburg) 3 private Citroen C-Elysée by Sébastien Loeb Racing (Chilton, Bennani, Filippi) 1 private Citroen C-Elysée by Munnich Motorsport (Huff) 1 private Honda Civic by Zengo Motorsport (Panis) More than this we have a probable second Civic by Zengo (maybe Nagy or Ficza), and the poor Tom Coronel who's trying to do as usual his best to find all the money to be racing with ROAL Motorsport's really old Chevrolet Cruze. And maybe the hope of seeing the argentinian Urcera with Campos Racing's Chevrolet Cruze, at least in Termas de Rio Hondo. If everything's perfect, maybe 14 cars. That's a real delusion! |
