I think this series is pretty much over before it’s started. Sad really, but just shows that BTCC will always remain top

knockhill in reverse is just dire, very little overtaking. I remember a few years back when we got the license Alan Gow drove it at speed in his porsche, he was not impressed. Now like the guy or not you do have to respect his views.
the track works great in reverse for the bikes though |

In an ideal world, this should be a support series for the BTCC. However political and commercial forces will always prevent that it seems.

Have to admit i was slightly surprised this wasn't part of the British GT support package.

I think they probably should have joined the British GT support, it's too much risk for a new series to have it's own event

So what is the entry list looking like at the moment? As far as I can tell it's this:
Hyundai i30 - Lewis Kent Honda Civic - Finlay Crocker Seat Leon - Karl Swift Seat Leon - Stewart Lines (part program) Have I missed any confirmed entries? There were a lot of 'interested' parties and people 'considering' an entry but the above are the only ones I could find something approaching a definite for. Not the smallest grid I've ever seen - I did see a 3 car race at Brands once (soon became 2 when one retired). |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6S4slPzvbJA&t=24m40s In Russian "National-Junior" in 2016 1 car starts from the grid, another from the pits. Also with 5 cars starting, 3 at the finish, 3 lead changes and the greatest overtake ever at 5:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aC09xeDC5HQ&t=3m43s To keep with TCR UK, unless 12 cars turn up 7 rounds will not be completed, and I'd say minimum 8 for a round at all |

That Russian race is actually surprisingly engrossing. There's some actual suspense! Even tiny grids can be kind of fun. I think the worst I've known (thinking of some British F3 races I saw at Brands in the really low turnout years) were about 6 cars, which all proceeded to spread out from turn 1, and finished spread over about a minute. No action, nobody catching anyone. Qualifying had worked perfectly, they started in order of speed, and... yeah. A "race".
Pretty sure I saw something on Motors TV a few weeks ago about a British LMP3 championship, which was at Snetterton. From memory that had about 4 cars, and a similar crowd. What a waste of good machinery! |

If it's the same one I saw, then I think the "retired" car actually rejoined after some major repairs. That race also featured a safety car for "debris" shortly before the lead car was about to lap the one in second place.

That would have been the British F2 race in 1997, where they tried to get the declining series a reprieve. It didn't work. In fact one driver said they were told the SC would come out if the cars got too spread out.

I do love seeing all the comments on here saying that it isn't going to happen. Its as though you don't want another race series to start in the UK???
I'm fairly confident that the series will go ahead, albeit with a fairly small grid to start with. Small grids don't necessarily mean bad racing. |

Yep, it’s almost as if some people want it to fail. I’d love to see it be a success, the more touring car action the better!

Let's see if he is right or not, but a TCR series in the UK would be great. I don't understand somebody's grudge about this new championship. |
