A 31-year old Venezuelan and a well known and "established" Angolan testing at Catalunya. Eeeha :-)

Who is Giancarlo Serenelli and why is he 6 seconds off the pace???
Also, I thought Rapax vowed to have good drivers this year after their disastrous defense of the title last year. I'm not convinced that Teixeira qualifies.... |

Serenelli is a 30 year old Venezuelan and is a multiple champion in the LATAM Challenge (essentially a Mexican based open wheel series for Volkswagen engined Tatuus cars) and Venezuelan Formula Ford. I think he has also done some tin top racing in Latin America.

Only 4 seats to fill. 2 in Rapax & 1 each for Lazarus & Ocean. and only 7 days for these teams to find drivers as we are getting very close to race 1 of this year championship.

Lancaster at Ocean, Serenelli at Lazarus (guess when Venezuela GP emerges as title sponsor), Teixeira and Canamasas at Rapax, all them seems to be the candidates for the vacant seats. Wonder if Clos would want to resume in GP2, Rapax could have a good driver in him.

If one of the teams struggle to get someone by first race stick Van der Drift in or someone like that. Quick driver's who will let a team know straight away if your team's on the right tracks with the other driver!

Dillman is definitely a decent signing, but a real shame that Teixeira's wads of cash have got him on the grid again.
What of Dani Clos now? I assume he's just focusing on his HRT role then? |

As a major fan of the series since its inception, i'm appalled by the lack of depth of quality this season promises.
Sorry to be so negative but its gone downhill ever since the original chassis were messed about with and then even more so when these new cars came in. There's what, half a dozen genuinely quality upcoming talents in the field and the rest are journeymen at best. This is not what the series one down from the pinnacle should be about and need a major shake up. FR3.5 is going to be what GP2 was from 05-07. Superb! |

Completely agree. And I am saddened by the fact GP2 isn't what it once was. They need to wake up and realise that it actually doesn't matter if all of the racing is in Europe or not, it needs to be made affordable and relevant to F1. They have failed on both counts.
To pick up Bella's point elsewhere, it's no coincidence that pretty much all of the motorsport series sub F1 are struggling and WsbR is thriving at all levels. |

The new GP2 cars are quite good looking, but the 1st gen ones were too, and I get where you guys are coming from.
