The British F3 race in Monza this morning was very, very wet- I doubt it will be any different this afternoon. Race starts at 14:15 local time.

If its still racing this afternoon, 55 GT cars many with amateur pilots. Could it be a possible recipe for carnage??

Didn't happen last year, don't see why it should this year...just because they're amatuer doesn't mean they're terrible (by definition amatuer is simply unpaid vs professional being paid).

This is true and i know there are some very good amateurs, the last thing im trying to do is call anyones talent into question. Just pondering if its rainy and all, lots of cars. Often i supose Pros are more likely to smash cars up wheras the Am's are more cautious as they are the ones paying for the cars.

there were only about 35 cars last year though. Having said that, throughout the season there was very little in the way of carnage and I think that was one of the things that marked it out. In fact, compared to some of the antics of the 'GT1' and WTCC drivers over the last few years, you'd almost expect the amateurs to cope better.

That said, the Rettifilo chicane in any configuration is a tricky turn one and pros and amateurs alike will need to be careful, regardless.

Starting behind the safety car is a good idea but I'm still very concerned about the first corner...

Shame there aren't more garages at Spa 80 cars would have been awesome

According to Dailysportscar: "SRO also confirmed the support progamme for the Total 24 Hours of Spa week. The Spa race is part of the 2012 Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series as well as the new FIA F3 European Championship. The JK Racing Asia Series will also be racing at Spa, the former Formula BMW Asia cars, racing two weekends outside Asia this year. Other support series are the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo and the new Belgian Racing Car Championship (BRCC). The new category has been described as 'a wonderful event, somewhere between a sprint and an endurance race, with a pack of more than forty cars'."

So apart from the 65-car Blancpain race, we have:
  • British F3
  • Euro F3
  • JK Asia/Formula BMW
  • BRCC (From what i've seen on the web, it looks like it's a GT series)

Spa 24hrs is going to be awesome!
