peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
we have had redress at GC for many years, cut the chicane and you need to redress.

I cant see it being a significant issue if its done safely (which JW didnt do)

It's a great, great shame that this is happening after Bathurst but the right to appeal is an intrinsic part of the sport at all levels worldwide.

World Championships have arguably been decided one way or another on appeals before now. It's just part of the deal.

Yep.. it could be considered that the redressing process was a contributor to the accident between Mr Tander & everyone else on Sunday.

It has been an issue at other venues, and I cannot recall an accident happening as a result.

That ought to be enough of an issue to get the conversation started about it. A driver makes an error, he/she (see what I did there ) needs a penalty where they caused a professional foul.. whether it could be avoided or not.

Having said that, the Murphy/Lowndes thing of a few years ago now where Mr Murphy didn't actually touch the car ahead (Mr Lowndes lost it on his own) and was penalised needs to be considered too..

There should be enough channels of live telemetry popping backwards and forwards from the car to assure a decision made on facts..

Yes very true. If done safely there is no real problem with the redress. If JW had done it on pit straight, Bathurst would have had a very different outcome I feel.

Jamie might have just ruined it for everyone.

Statement from Supercars Australia: Triple Eight's Bathurst appeal

The appeal will only concern the level penalty and not if there should have been a penalty

Changing the protest midstream is an interesting event.

Looks like Mr Davison& Mr Webb are now confirmed SuperCheap Auto Bathurst 1000 winners!!

From Willy D's comments on Monday and Tuesday, after his conversations with RD, I think this has always been RD's intention. Believe standard penalty when a redress hasn't happened is 10 sec (ala Kelly/Pither), which is what RD was hoping the penalty is reduced to IMO.

Court ruling confirms Davison/Webb Bathurst win

bit more info in planning english

Its interesting that the penalty for taking your competition out of the race is less than for driving past a SC

The VASC article suggested that 888 were looking to change the grounds of their protest. So maybe the thinking shifted...

Looks another amateur moment from RBRA.
Lot of comments, articles and money for an increase of 36 pts, while Tander gets 0.
And how many points did Scotty lose?

Ugly way of dealing with championship points - is this what we are to expect at the end of each round now? People arguing on the Tuesday after the race about the severity of the calls?, because I can recall a lot more dodgier decisions than this supposed one being handed down and begrudgingly accepted. The recent Moffat one comes to mind, just because he's not in the running for a C'ship win shouldn't mean its any less important.

This team....

Agree - and it wasn't in this case. It was a comment made by VASC and they were not the ones who made the decision.

The 10k is to deter frivolous protests..

While in some ways he is right, it is a bad look this on-going saga, i'm not sure what to make of this

Surely it's in the interests of defending the integrity of the sport that appeals and protests are in place, so that the right decision can be come to when all the evidence is provided, should someone have an issue with ruling or technical issue.

Perhaps Mr Warburton is insinuating that Supercars adopt a NASCAR style approach that the result on the racetrack always stands, but in the background there can be fines, points deductions etc.. for things like technical infringments.

The integrity of the sport is in making sure the right and fair winner is found (and it may be Davison/Webb in this case), not on taking away a "Cinderella story"

Honestly, the sport needs this because it needs to be brought to light the ridiculous inconsistencies in the rulings and penalties and this might be what it takes for v8s to stop shrugging their shoulders and not giving a **** about how they run a weekend.

Partially - but it is also to cover the costs of the court. If an appeal is unsuccessful, none of the fee is returned, if the appeal is partially successful the court decides if any of the fee is going to be returned and if the appeal is successful, the court decides whether part or all of the appeal is returned, with a view to costs.

It's all in the judicial rules of the ops manual and is pretty standard FIA / CAMS procedure for appeals.

Finally managed to see the whole 161 laps.

First half of the race was the calm before the storm (except for some tech issues at several teams) but then it became a great race.

Happy to see Tekno winning. Glad Whincup didn't win. SVG magical in overtaking.

Is Warburton for real?

Seems like he is trying to play the fans against T8 with calls to national pride?

As others have said, sort your rules/penalties out, apply them fairly and employ competent people to do it.

I'd say punishing people unfairly is about as "unAustralian" as it gets.

NASCAR has the right idea: let the drivers sort it out on the track. This series would explode in popularity if they did IMO.
