I tell you what annoys me a bit.

My Great Grandfather was one of the members of the cycle club who bought the site at Brands off the local farmer in the 40s. Four or five of the members put together the money to buy what was then just a field, and if my Great Grandfather had had enough money to contribute...

I suppose it could have done. The BRDC bought the lease on the circuit perimeter at Silverstone from the RAC (who no longer wanted to run a circuit) in 1952 and also acquired rights to use the circuit at other times. I think they saved it from closure. In 1961, the BRDC acquired the rest of the lease rights outright, probably reasoning that as they had the GP and perimeter ownership, they might as well have the rest of it. Later the same year Brands was sold to Grovewood Securities. It's possible then that the BRDC could have brought Brands instead - but I doubt that if they had both tracks would still be operating today. Put simply, I suspect that the BRDC would not have had enough money to run two top-line circuits at once.

no, you're right. But if Silverstone had gone away instead in 1952/53, would we have missed it?

it's a pretty rubbish spectators track though.

I can only think of one place on the track where you see the cars up close while doing anything worthwhile and that's at Bridge.
Brands i can think of top of Paddock, Druids, Surtees, Dingle Dell and Stirlings....

That is one nice track, P. Some nice flowing, fast corners and some good overtaking spots. Amazing graphics as ever (jealosy beginning to seep in). I like it.

After watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City yesterday, I decided that the parade route could be used for part of a race track. The parts of the track that doubles as the parade route are along Central Park West, the roundabout known as Columbs Circle, and the piece of track between the final corner and the first corner that runs up Broadway. It looked wide enough on TV to stage a race. I have inverted the colors in order to see the track beter, especially where the track runs along itself on Broadway.

1st edit. Taking into account the "max 1km straight" rule.

2nd edit. Ignoring the "max 1km straight" rule, and assuming that there's a 90 left just off the edge of the map.

Ascari Wesite

Click on the link above, then go to menu, and click "RaceResort" and read all about it. I'd like to go on Holiday there, dunno about you!

Luxury hotel, Beautiful Spanish countryside, and the whole thing around a 5km race track designed for learning to race on.

It's a motor racing holiday resort!

could get a bit boring though don't you think? I mean, there can't be a lot to do other than racing up there?
And presumably you have to wait for most of the day until your turn on the track as there's only one track afterall, with all sorts of varying abilities of driver wanting to use it

Anyway, here's a track from me, something i've spent 3 days tinkering with. What do you think? If anyone wants to see a larger version i'll upload one to my site.

That Ascari Race Resort looks quite the place. However, I doubt it's in the price range that us, mere mortals, can afford.

And Pirenzo, my goodness, you tracks are getting better and better. Very good! You should call mr. Tilke some day.

That Ascari thing looks like the dream holiday!

A shame, that all of us hardworking people shall not enjoy it...

Well, guess i revealed my political standpoint there

you ruined my overtaking spot in that last one
T1 is still on, but my T4 was supposed to be a passing spot too, like T4 at Sepang (BTW, my first few corners on that last one were a shameless copy of Sepang)
