Still glad i saw one Lotus 101 racing at Spa, i also think it's the same car. Actually, that race at Spa (what was it 2003?) had also a great field of cars.

Excellent, thanks. But why only a 20 minute race? Seems a huge amount of commitment and expense for such a small amount of on track time. No more than than the Mazda MX5's Is it a fuel volume issue?

Thank you guys for coming & am glad only practice was rain stopped.
My ears are still on fire - the comm box was shaking & the podium felt like it was going to take off every time they went past. Wayhay! I can now say I have commentated on F1 |

Well I'll let thundersports do a proper write up but I must agree I had an excellent day Donnington with some very fine points!
The 7UP Jordan: My goodness the car looks, sounds beautiful. Was a pleasure to see it going at full chat round the track and certainly was never far behind the 3rd/4th place cars. Tony Worswick was there with his very tidy looking Jordan, but sadly no idea why it wasn't running. Despite the smaller grid than Hockenheim there was some good racing all around. My personal highlight being De Boer and Van Eerd side by side down the pit straight in the 2nd race jostling for 3rd. Van Kalmthout went like a missile off the line from near last in the second race and was 3rd entering redgate! Hopefully I can get my camcorder recordings online as I made countless shots of the cars passing! (It's been nearly 2 years since my last BOSS helping so no excuses from me!) |

I had the pleasure of starting the races and can say that the cars were awesome, they looked good and sounded great and were very well behaved on the pit straight as they were approaching the start.. The start gantry shook when they came thundering underneath us.. Thank you Christian and teams for coming ...

The drive up the M1 from Kent to Donington on saturday morning didn't bode well; lashing rain and lots of surface water......The 1st practise for the Boss cars was red flagged due to the same conditions as the M1.
After a pleasent tour of the museum (a bargain at £7) the Boss Paddock was beckoning, the first transporter I saw was a welcome sight that I hadn't seen for over 10 years; the legendary former Euroboss champion Tony Worswick equipped with his Jordan 194. It had been a massive effort for him to get there as it had been a last minute decision, the car and engine had needed re-building, Tony needed a ECG test for his licence which involved a long trip on thursday and to top it all the ever reliable truck had broken down en-route! Another blast from the past was the versatile Eddie Mclurg who brought along his Footwork Arrows FA13. Donington has never been kind to either driver in the past sadly cruel luck would intervene again.....One other British driver was present the affable Chris Woodhouse in his venerable ex DAMS/Superpower Lola T90/50. Sadly Scott Mansell didn't make it due to diff failure on his Benetton. Other entrys of note were Didier Sirgue (who much to my friends entertainment spoke no english and my french is "merd") in the gorgeous Jordan 191. Anorak time there is also one in the museum is this the 1st time in 20 years that two have at a race track at the same time? Klaas bought two Ascari Benettons B197s for him and the absent Chris Milner and Fritz had a pair of Tyrells at his disposal. The weather cleared up for qualifying where Zwart was quickest followed by MVK in his similar Benetton. The brits were suffering lots of dramas; Worwicks car did one lap but had no oil pressure, Mclurgs car wouldn't start and Woodhouses Lola was making smoke signals to the planes taking off from the adjacent airport due to a breather pipe blowing off his rebuilt DFR. I took a good many photos, some are not brilliant as my trusty old Sony had a bit of damp ingress due to the dismal Saturday 1st qualifying conditions. Being an owner of an original Mugen engined 91/50 Lola F3000 my main interest was seeing the 90/50 DFR engined car of the Woodhouse brothers, with Chris Woodhouse driving it after a lengthy lay off. Worth the trip just to see one of these old machines in action, I thought he handled it magnificently. I was very impressed with the speed and agility of the Henk de Boer Panoz Champ car, I always thought of them as fast lorries, but was obviously doing them a disservice, it was an immaculately and professionally turned out beast, very well driven, with an agility I didn't expect at all. The true F1 stuff was mesmerising, of course, hopefully some of the photos will be of interest.

Thanks, great photos, I prefer the EJ194 in its original colors...Last time I saw Chris Woodhouse was at Zolder in 2008 and it seems it was about the same story :

The first race was somewhat a race of attrition with only 7 finishers with Klaas coming out on top after nursing his Benetton home after the fuel pump all but gave up the ghost. MVK sister Benetton engine cut out after a handful of laps not before establishing a new outright lap record at 57.221 leaving Gerstls GP2 Dallara to pick up second from de Boers Panoz. Further down the field Woodhouses clutch had failed making it impossible to downchange and led to retirement. Sirgues well driven and pretty Jordan finishing a competitive fouth after a early battle with de Boer. Van Eerts howling Tyrrell howled no more after the Cosworth engine cried enough accelerating up from the old hairpin and was parked at Schwantz curve, fortunantly a spare car was on hand in the awning!
Sadly Mclurgs Footwork Arrows remained in the awning despite a mercy dash down the M1 by son Ross to pick up a borrowed spark box but to no avail as the V8 Hart still refused to fire up. Worswicks Jordan was still suffering from no oil pressure after much effort was made to diagnose the fault, both cars left Donington without completing a lap..... |

Given all the driver’s requests for UK races it must have been really frustrating for the organisers that there were only 2 new entries and they both failed to take part.
You would have thought that subsidised entries, tv coverage etc would have dragged a few more out rather than produce the lowest ever BOSS entry at Donington. |

The Brands Hatch Masters Historic Festival at the end of the month is advertising as featuring demo laps by a 'closer to current' Formula One car. Anyone got any ideas what that is? Is it one of the BOSS crowd?
