Not a bad effort at all . . . was this on the GP circuit ? its hard to tell as there are no real visual clues to where the pic was taken, there is a grass/sand bank and some Armco . . . you get that at lots of places. You need to try to get something in the background to give your shot context . . .

Very firm favourit now!

Slight levels tweak, and slight sharpening, otherwise as took...
Not the best you've ever taken, or even close.

And yes, sharpening is necesarry when you use an E1

Err i dunno about my best anymore.

Not a comment on your photography, more on your spelling. On the Shelsley Walsh pictures I assume you mean "any good shots"

Minimangler......what's going on with the aspect ratio on your pics? Were they all taken with the same camera? The 'Of Corse' is about a 2:1 AR, the Ebimotors is nearer 4:3
I've noticed that on some of your other postings too

I think I would have cropped out some of the unnecessary background on the Of Corse, lost some (or all) of the Total signage to the right. Try cropping it to a 3:2 ratio, I think it would look better.

Other than that....not bad

One of my favourites

This is one of my favourite rallying pictures. Taken in just about one of the best locations imaginable for rally specating-the top of a greek mountain.

Home made

Just for interest sake really. These pics are of a home made special of an engineer mate of mine. Stepless Automatic and runs on gas, the spare wheel fits back and front , and the dummy tank is for storage. Its very trick and goes very well as it keeps in the torque band all the time.

Oh boy, can I play too? (Pics from New Zealand)

I apologise in advance for not being able to get it down to 1 shot... In fact I could hardly get it down to a favourite dozen or so... But I managed to choose a mere 5 for this post...

Drifting... Shooting at about 1/50 and panning to get just the eyes in focus...

Drifting - arty shot shooting the reflection of a very cute safety marshal's glasses...

Paul Nichol rolling in spectacular style in the Ashley Forest Rallysprint in 2004

Mitsubish Lancer WRC from Rally NZ 2007 (Just a few days ago)

Arty long shot of Jari Matti Latvala in Rally NZ at top speed... (All the top cars were bouncing off a rev limiter in top on that straight!)

There's HEAPS more on my site at http://nzsnaps.com/Motorsport

Cheers - Neil Gardner

likewise to you - the clues in the title. photo whoring isn't big and it isn't clever. there's a very fine line between gentle promotion and whoring.

Of my recent pics this is my new favorite, so much so that I have had a 30" x 20" print done.

It was from the Slowly Sideways group B cars at the Gold Cup at Oulton Park.

Raptor, can you read the FAQ regarding image size. I'm sure it looks great as a 30" print but there's no need to post a jpg that would be viewable from space.

OK, point taken, it's all relative though , on my monitor it's not even half a screen width, it's also the size I resize to for my my website so it's easy for me to link to it from there. My website automaticaly generates a medium size of around 600x400, I guess that would be more suitable in future ?

If you are refering to my image, it is the same aspect ratio that came out of the camera . . . it hasn't been cropped either.

If you look at the forum guidelines you'll see that the maximum width is 400px wide. This is to stop the page getting clogged up with massive photos that can distort it and take a while to load. You can always use the attachment facility if you want a bigger picture.

Sorry about that... I did go and look for an edit function after reading the rules (and before your messages - if you'll believe that) since changing the size to a compliant version would be as simple as replacing the "L" in the end of the filename with an "S"... But I couldn't find one.

I use a big monitor and I'm probably out of touch with needing to have narrow windows.

I would be surprised if it causes many people a real problem though - but I'll still respect the rules in any future posts.

Cheers - Neil Gardner.
