And the fastest non-hybrid LMP1 did 1:53 in 2016 edition of the Austin WEC (DPi Cadillacs can do around 1:55 I think). So 1:47 is not that slow as it may look like at first.

If it goes ahead, let's hope it's not as short lived as the race which was held in São Paulo, from 2010 - 2013. |

I highly doubt that Juncos will enter 2 full-season entries. Perhaps one full-season and a parttime.
Carlin will drive with Kimball I think. Wehrlein will race 4 events with Schmidt what I have heard. |

Schmidt will expand to 3 cars? That would be awesome, but haven't read about it.

It seems like the guys in Rio were trying to catch the media attention with F1 in Sao Paulo this weekend. You'd assume Indy would have an announcement already for a race in 2020 but stranger things have happened. But I doubt we'll see that any time soon

Busy time for him. Spa WEC, then Indy month, then back to France for Le Mans test day. Good to see he's keeping busy

He won't be competing in the IndyCar Grand Prix at IMS, so that will give a bit of a breather.

Glad to see it's happening, hope he gets the win this time. I had a feeling they would do this as a one off

"McLaren Racing announced Saturday that it will contest the 103rd Running of the Indianapolis 500 in 2019 with Fernando Alonso at the wheel." and: "McLaren has won the Indy 500 three times, once in 1972 supplying Team Penske and driver Mark Donohue, and twice as a works entry, in 1974 and 1976, with driver Johnny Rutherford. In 2019, it will return as McLaren Racing." They sure as heck don't design and fabricate the cars (only Dallara can do that, or am I missing a change?), so, 'not following as closely as I used to, what, exactly, is "their" (McLaren's) participation or contesting? Besides the company's name on the side of an Andretti Autosport car, does any of the company's staff contribute to the physical effort? If not it's like saying any sponsor...oh, Marlboro or Patron fer instance...participate in racing. I understand contributing funds but....."participating"....."contesting".....? 'Not stirring the pot, 'just don't get it.... Last edited by jimclark; 11 Nov 2018 at 10:39. |

According to stuff I’ve read, it will be a McLaren run car using their own personnel, but separate to the F1 team...... Also Chevrolet engine suggested, as Honda relationship not at its best.....

No, I couldn’t see Honda supplying, even for just a one off Indycar race

According to this article, http://classic.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/139974
"The McLaren Racing IndyCar squad is expected to again use some Andretti support in 2019 but will be run with direct McLaren involvement and an expected Chevrolet engine deal." |

Yes. It was only coined (officially) shortly after the IRL absorbed the CCWS (whatever year that was). Don't test me, remember....
Now you've got me curious exactly when that was...a new mission I accept.... edit: Voila...."The sanctioning body was formed in 1994 under the name Indy Racing League, and began competition in 1996. The trademark name INDYCAR was officially adopted on January 1, 2011." I understand your questioning and yes, it's a technicality. Nonetheless whatever form of Indy cars we're talking about it hasn't been "over 30 years" (IndyCar the most recent and has been outside the U.S. since it's inception) Last edited by jimclark; 12 Nov 2018 at 23:58. |
