JoestForEver should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Not necessarily 2016, I suppose the detail of future GT/GT+ regulation will be settled during the FIA council meeting in the middle of next year.

Yes, I meant the the implimentation of said rules is due in 2016, but I wasn't sure if that was still the target date or not.

From the comments of the Jag CEO they have no plans to go racing... too expensive

There were some comments I think. But that's a pretty vague rationale. All racing is too expensive?

It's never the right time until it's the right time.

That shows that they're looking at it from the wrong angle. Many manufacturers actually make profits from their customer racing efforts.

Do they have the backing and manufacturing abilities of the only two that could be making money on their programs, Ferrari and Porsche? I wouldn't say that's many and doubt Corvette, Viper, BMW (might be close overall though) or many others are directly making money on their racing programs. And how much does Porsche make on GTE/LM type cars? I would assume they make most of their profits on the Cup cars that are sold by the hundreds.

Yes but surely the new GT/GT+ concept changes everything. You won't have to look at it in terms of GTLM and GT3 then. It's all coming from the same place.

The new reg sounds pretty ambitious to combine the characteristics of GTE and GT3 into one category and a strengthened one. I fear that FIA may create a category that combines the flaw of both.....:'(

BMW makes money off their racing efforts, especially the S2000 touring cars have been highly profitable over the years.

Not profitable enough to make them keep doing it though apparently.

Not many car companies REALLY make money out of a racing program, but when it helps to sell more road cars they make money as a company. Just like any marketing.

Racing is just another form of advertising to the car manufacturers, and they will use it if they feel it is the most cost efficient way of selling their cars, the days of racing because that is what sports car companies should do has long gone, accountants and finance backers put the nail in that coffin a long time ago

Jaguar is in the situation where they're making a last attempt with the new cars. If they aren't a success the company may go under. Those are their own words. I hope its the opposite.

Good job Jaguar have been announcing record sales figures then isn't it. They haven't been in this good of a place in a long time.

Theyre betting on the entry level sedan doing well along with their new suv. It seems those are the cars that the company's future depends on. Even though theyre doin great. Maybe Tata expects more from the brand?

All brands are doing that, diversifying in a modern era where new segments are being created constantly. Living in their heartland it's easy to see life at JLR has never seemed better.

Back to the chat about JLR? I believe they've recently recruited 2 THOUSAND more R&D staff. Hence it taking nearly 45 minutes, Friday morning, for my 5 mile commute to Aston, next door...
They keep announcing record profits, but I suspect most is coming from Landy/Rangy sales to China.
Here's hoping the F Type makes Jag sing again. There are lots round here, I dunno why.

I'm pretty sure that we'll be getting a Continental Tire GT version of this eventually, but do you guys think Ford will try to make a GT3/2015 GT out of the new Mustang, now that it has IRS?
