Managed to get to see the races on Monday at Oulton. I am afraid to say it did nothing for me. Cars have too much grip to be entertaining and I doubt the drivers or more likely their dads learn much apart from how expensive motor racing is.

Well we'll see how much the BRDC F4 graduates have learned in the Euro F3 races this weekend

George Russell P4, only beaten by drivers with at least a seasons' experience at the sharp end. Not bad eh?
As for the entertainment, BRDC F4 has been very good at providing good close racing with plenty of overtaking over its short existence. Oulton Park is a circuit where overtaking is hard. You should watch these things at Silverstone! |

Interesting event and chance to see F4 cars up close in Corby this Saturday. Sounds like it could be a good day with the British GT cars there too.

Former Formula Renault 1.6 NEC racer Paul Seiljes will be running for CDR at Rockingham. Nothing major but another car and another driver I guess...

Sieljes did a good job on his return taking seventh in the opening race at Rockingham. Sounds like there was some good action during it with Rodrigo Fonseca taking the win.

I'm not sure the race results are representative for anyone other than Fonseca! Chaotic first lap apparently...

Seemingly so. Fonseca unlucky not to take victory in race three of the day that was screened live on Motors TV. Some fantastic action throughout the day and enjoyed being able to see it in real-time!

Badly phrased perhaps. He could have been more aware of Mealin coming up the inside but he had driven a measured race up until that point.

Interesting news from BRDC F4. More powerful car and improved aerodynamic grip for the 2016 car. If costs are similar that is a major attraction for young drivers looking to get the necessary experience to move up the single-seater ladder.
http://www.formula4.com/news/2016-br...lverstone.aspx Oh and Will Palmer took pole, fastest lap and the win on Saturday. Pretty impressive. |

Good idea. They're not competing directly with MSAF with this. They're better for what they offer really. Different package. Can see a driver go MSAF aged 15, BRDC F4 aged 16, F3 aged 17, etc. Good stepping stone.
Plus there'll be the fair share of 16yo+ karting graduates who'll have a good go! Good to see the budgets aren't horrible either. Still less than half of that of a FR Eurocup season. Can't wait until the Autumn Trophy. Yes, Palmer took pole by just about 1s, and dominated the race itself. Imo the talent this season isn't quite up to the last couple of years, but Palmer, Newey and Fonseca are all worthy of a good FR Eurocup drive, maybe even a decent stab at F3. And the series' alumni are having a very good weekend too. Russell, Maini and Hyman are all having a good weekend in F3 - Hyman has been outstanding given his teams' stature compared to those around him. Meanwhile, Jake Hughes got pole and finished 2nd in the FR Eurocup race at Spa. Here's for a good Sunday! Overall, a positive weekend for BRDC F4. |

A very positive weekend it seems.
Palmer and Fonseca took wins today, with Palmer taking the championship lead now. Only 12 points between the pair and it looks to be shaping up into quite a juicy title battle now. |

There's not much wrong with Hyman's F3 car as Monza showed. No driver in F3 can drive around a bad car there

Mr Lee, it appears that Jonathan Palmer agrees with you! Tbh, it looks like a good move. They're aiming for a different market from MSAF now. Although it's now Formula 3.5, which Renault already have |

What would be the new budget though? Are drivers going to pay that much to trundle around the same circuits as MSA Formula? Surely most would go to continental Europe after one season.

Trundle around the same circuits as MSA Formula but in a more advanced car that would prepare them better for future steps on the ladder. As for budgets, a good team in MSAF will surely have a big budget...

Alternatively both series could grow due to their catering of a different markets... I think this was great news for UK single-seater racing. Just be glad that for the first time in a long time, we have a logical, clear and concise single-seater market and two very strong brands.

Could the BRDC F4 series hypothetically rename itself BRDC F3 with the new car... The series have separated now but the naming issue persists in my view.
