that was what I was hinting at yes.

Chris van der Drift has confirmed to racexpress.com that the car simply wasn't ready.

It's 25 days till the start of the season, and they surely must step up production if they actually want to hold a race at Zandvoort this time.

I wonder how many times TT and PdS have thought: I wish we had stuck to Lola/ Zytek.

Last month: probably a lot of times.

I don't think they wish that. The thing is, the real problem is that they started too late on it. If it wasn't this season, it'll be the next. And... I don't miss the Lola Zyteks.

Looks like Australia might have been running the yellow test car with a Fox Sports sticker and an Australia sticker on the rear wing added to make it Australian?

The cars look good and appear to be quick, just hoping they will allow close and exciting racing.

Tony T needs to get over to Fiorano and point out that this won't reflect very positively on Ferrari's brand. However, if I may invent a conspiracy theory, when Ferrari did this deal with A1GP relations with others in F1 were not great as Todt was still in charge and the whole spy scandal thing was going on. Times have now changed and Ferrari and the other teams (and I guess therefore Bernie) now appear to be a happy family. I wonder if when they did the A1GP deal they were happy to go off on their own direction a bit, but now Bernie may be whispering in their ear that it wouldn't be such a bad thing to make life a bit difficult for A1GP, and Ferrari are more ammeniable to this suggestion? On the other hand Tony T stated that Bernie hooked him up with Ferrari in the first place so who knows...

^ Nah... I think that Ferrari's A1 thing is separate from F1... besides, their image could be damaged if A1 went wrong, so I don't know if they would risk that by "making things difficult".

But it is a strange world so you never know .

Superleague making what, 750hp? This is interesting. Is Fairuz coping well with the fasting Ramadhan month?

2nd day of Donington testing today... yesterday was a day off. I hope we see some more teams out on track, like New Zealand (who didn't put in a lap on Tuesday) and Indonesia. Definitely won't be seeing China, Great Britain or Portugal - and I doubt either of the new teams either.

Going by the images on the series official website NZ made it out of the pits today.

Italy have run some ex Formula Renault driver called Fabio Onidi. Personally I've never heard of him before.

He drove in Euroseries 3000 this year didn't he?

Anyway, some interesting pictures from today:

1. Adrian Zaugg for South Africa - "Next Race - Durban" strip removed from visor (that was a bit of a gaffe ), Ericsson on the engine cover and a video camera taped to the top of the airbox (filming for the season preview perhaps?)

2. Da Bleek for the Netherlands - Antonov branding on engine cover and side of the nosecone

3. Chris van der Drift for New Zealand - Black Beauty got out on track today and looked cool as always

4. The aforementioned Onidi driving for Italy in that boring plain white car

5. John Martin in Australia's car, all liveried-up - now we know what they did on Wednesday

so.. why is plain black excellent, and plain white boring ? I like the plain white car actually.. It just doesn't fit Italy... that's all.

^ That's the reason there - "It just doesn't fit Italy" - I think every A1 car should represent the country and be very obviously from that country. Italy's just doesn't work.

The white car, in itself, is quite attractive if a bit plain... but as you say, it doesn't fit Italy.

I see Onidi is leading the Euro F3000 championship, he can't be half bad then.

Surely that is not Italy's final colour scheme. White is one third of the Italian flag but an all white car in motorsport is associated with not being able to find any sponsorship...

The Italian car is the very symbol of this A1 management. No Mugello? Check. Money woes? Check. No Sponsors? Check. The more I read about A1 news the more ****ed I get. The car design looks fabulous. But Tony and Pete are bunch of blowhard con artists.

Anyway... some of the cars look real good though I'd be disappointed if Netherlands decides to stick with the orange car this season. The one form last season was not half bad.

Acording to Sport Motores , the problem is the Xtrac Gear Box spares and the payments to Xtrac.

Well I think A1GP relaxed that rule last year (if there ever was a rule about where sponsors have to be from - I'm not entirely sure), as they had Ericsson (Sweden) and AquaSP (Switzerland) on their car last season.

Its a friendly series all share, remember Jos Verstappen's nose when he won in Durban 1st season.

A1's priority is to get the cars at the factory built, no car stopped running at Donnington through lack of spares, The T car went out later with a new nose, (from Stock) this way South Africa could rejoin the test quicker, A1 use common sense not petty rivalry.

When has a new car broken a circuits lap record at its first test, Well done A1.
