I said from day one it was all about Bernie being petty minded and throwing his dummy out of the pram when he couldn't bully the BRDC into doing what he wanted at Silverstone without giving them a lengthy contract. It will end up back at Silverstone.....unless Bernie can't take the backlash and stumps up the money himself to save face. |

Dont see why he shouldn't give Silverstone a long term contract anyway, just about all of the drivers love it.Spa has a license till 2026,once they've sorted out the morons who keep complaining that is!

This Donington 2010 Project isn't doing the circuit much good.
They have lost the August Superleague meeting to Brands, and the 750MC will not race there next year, this all due to the uncertainty of Donington's future. I can see most series and organisors following suit. |

And this is what I feared and why I think the whole thing will collapse and be sold off for housing and industry as I have always suspected.

R.I.P Donington.
It's a shame such a fantastic circuit had to close in this way and that B.E had a hand in it, I presume the houses and factories will be built in quick time. This must be great news for Silverstone and Rockingham but neither has the character Donington had. Simon should be jailed! |

Unfortunately like the bosses of that other famous phoenix company British Leyland and way down the scale the bosses of the little *hite company that had me over for more than £3k last year over an internet purchase he will retire to his mansion and plan his next scheme, this country sucks and I am going to say this, the pheonix company act (known by a different name of course) was the brain child of our glorious prime minister when he was chancellor and was introduced to protect jobs, what a bloody joke. BTW do you know the majority owners of Rockingham are Barrett Homes or at least they was as of 2007 unless anything has changed so don't think for one moment that circuit is safe, we may I am afraid just be witnessing the beginning of the end of our beloved sport.

The story has also hit Autosport: http://www.autosport.com/news/grapevine.php/id/79678
I do hope Donington can come back from this quickly, and get dates for events next year. Hopefully the Wheatcrofts will be able to get some money back from this via legal action against Gillett. |

Dates for 2010 are very optomistic now as the track is in pieces but maybe 2011? If the housing isn't built? ??

Maybe just at Donington but we've had Anglesey & Rockingham open in the last 10 years, Snetterton is on the verge of a major revamp (can't see Dr Palmer messing things up) plus the new configuration of Silverstone looks very good. It would be a crying shame if Donington shuts down but it's not the end of the world.

Perhaps not but because of the historical importance of Donington Circuit, this bunch of clowns we call our government should have put some of the ill fated RBS money into it,any politicians on the board I wonder?
Long held theory on what Bernie's plan's were regarding its future were/are that he wants it for himself, gets the track plus somewhere to store his cars/purchase Wheatcrofts Collection. |

What does the future hold for Donington?
Just been reading theis article -> http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/8300268.stm
Although I can't say I'm surprised to read the funding wasn't in place, I am worried about the future of my "home" circuit. From some of the photos that have been posted in various places, the circuit itself is going to need a fair sum of money to put back into a usable condition. I'd be surprised if Donington's current management have any money left to sort it out. I'm really hoping that someone will get the circuit back up and running for next season, even without the GP there are some great meetings there. |

Bernie was never interested in the event moving to Dony in the first place. Given recent comments he's made he's not interested in a British GP at all.
Has anyone got any links to the photos of the circuit as it stands now? I saw lots but didn't bookmark them. |

It shouldn't be a problem - you can still stand on the corner of Starkey's Square or maybe down at Melbourne Close and flag for Mr or Mrs Commuter as they depart from their home to their office.
But seriously, I can see Gillet being asked to leave the premises after deposting a large sum of cash to rebuild/repair the circuit. From some of the older photos I have seen (mostly on here) it looked like large piles of earth mounded up, instead of removing the racing surface itself. |
