Winstoncup should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Alex K I thought the same initially about vDG but Abu Dahbi was like ground hog day of last season. He has a big rep but check out the stats on last season and I think you will find that his Q performances where quite poor just like this weekend on average around P10 except for maybe Barcelona and Monza. He did alright in the last half season but in terms of real performance Monza was his only high point. The Sunday win in Spa was quite good and the Sunday win in Hungary was just lucky. Perez however seems to be a much more attacking driver who was maybe held back at Arden but anyway we will see the full picture in the next few months!
The way I see it Perez was in an inconsistant car and vDG had the benefit of an iSport car so now they are together I think the Mex/Spanish side will beat the Dutchman IMO.

What about Grosjean? It looks he won't find a seat in F1, even as tester, but if he returns in GP2, he's the very hot favourite for the title.

Yep, he wants to race in Main Series if his performances improve in Asia and by his standarts he's always improving. Watched a full interview w/ him last weekend, it was again shocking. He said he doesn't want to listen to experienced people, because they are all too conservative and tell him to stop! The poor driver was very upset when he's not praised for his performances, when they are on par with the other drivers There's a positive, he's now stating that drivers actually pay and he's not paid to drive as it was at the start.

Unbelievable!! Trident have a lot to answer for by giving him a seat. They also inflicted Ricardo Teixeira on us. If they keep signing drivers on cash with little talent I don't think they will have a spot on the grid for 2011. Maybe the same for DPR (despite what happened this weeked!)

I have to agree with you there. At the end of this year GP2 team entries have to be re-submitted and I think unlike at the end of 2007 I think we may see some weaker teams left out of the entry list for 2011. Durnago are gone, DPR probably won't get in and I would say Trident may well be in danger.

Also agree on the VDG points. He had some good results tomwards the end of 2009 but I think that was in large part due to how good his team were. He spent GP2 Asia and GP2 last year saying there were problems with the car etc but since when did iSport have a poor car? Turvey and Valsecchi are driving the same Asia car as VDG did with Al Fardan last season and they are flying in it.

I don't think VDG is a poor driver I just think he has the wrong attitude when he's struggling. He is quite negative. Thats why I think Perez will beat him this year as he'll cope better and he is quick. There is a lot of pressure on VDG to win it this year with Barwa in a car that VDG says 'suits his driving style' so we'll see.

Esteban Guerrieri is considering GP2 as an option. If not, a possible move to Indy Lights could be considered...

I feel sorry for Trident. The first year they turned up, they looked like a really promising outfit. What went wrong?

Are you talking about Esteban Gutierrez? If so he has signed with ART for GP3.

No, I was talking about Guerrieri, not GutiƩrrez. But judging about GP2 filled seats, he'd better head to Americas and IndyLights...

I hope Ocean keep the same colour scheme as last year, that car was beautiful!

Would love to see Parente back too, he's a real talent in my eyes.

Parente is out. He will not be racing in GP2. His sponsors have pulled the plug on the money so he will no longer be a Virgin test driver either. Such a shame. I would expect RE to confirm Clos. Grosjean has nothing to do this year, perhaps he'll go back to GP2. RE could be a good option for him.

Chandhok likely to get something in F1 so the stories say so he probably won't be racing in GP2.

I understand Clos was visiting Virgin at Jerez this week. Any chance of an opening for him there? I know he's done a bit of testing work for Williams already so he'd be a good reserve for them in place of Parente

Is Clos definitely confirmed at RE, other than the fact he had a 2 year contract when he originally signed for the team? Besides a lucky podium in Portugal he hasn't done much to warrant being team leader at RE. I'm still hoping that Grosjean gets the seat.

I thought Soucek was looking good for the Virgin reserve role? I'm glad they have been looking around for someone to replace Parente as Razia is certainly not good enough

Well, it's not Razia's talent that's the problem. It's money
