When they said they were going to produce 10 of them, they also said all 10 would be used in production of the new Bond film and that NONE would be sold to the public. So don't count on seeing this racing anytime soon.

It wouldn't have raced anywhere even if those 10 had been offered to common folk. Except maybe some special class in VLN/N24 or something, like they've done with the hydrogen-petrol Rapide S

First spy shots of the 'DB11', DB9 replacement. Comes with a twin turbo 4.0 litre V8 from AMG.

the 4.0 v8 turbo (surely the same motor of the amg gt) is the most reasonable solution to me. You can't switch from a NA V12 to a twin turbo V8 without modify the chassis

Article says the prototype has their existing V12 in it and the production car will have the V8.

I wonder whet effect Aston's possible move to F1 will have on its GT program?

Resource wise probably no effect as it would be just a sponsorship deal, exactly what Infiniti is doing right now.

Yeah, but since we know that Aston Martin Racing has been running under tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny shoestring budgets even to the point on relying amateur driver money sources and partnerships with external teams for the past X years, any reallocation of funds to elsewhere could have consequences. Even if 'just' sponsorship, it's still money off.
I'm hoping they'll decrease the car count in WEC from 5 to 1-2 or something. I'm tired of seeing them win all the time without much merit. And I don't care if that sounds harsh, we all -probably - have few cars on the grid we don't care for and wish were replaced by something else |

I don't know if this is stil the case, but previously all the GT2 and GTE cars were owned by private investors and raced by AMR. Meaning that AMR "only" need to find the funds for running the team and developing the cars, something which should be possible from the sponsors, pay drivers and so on.
If this is still the case an engine branding deal in F1 should not have an effect on the WEC program as it should be stand a stand alone program. |

i can not see this happening, if red bull switch to Mercedes engines then it will mean that we will be left with only two engines, oh yes 3 if you count honda (and if it is still around next year) and also that does not explain were AM would get the money from, still making no money from non race car sales

What is Aston Martin up to?
All red bull needs is good engines and they'll be a giant annoyance to Mercedes so this ain't gonna happen.

It wasn't that long ago Helmut Marko or Dietrich said engine customer 'will never win a championship' exactly because Mercedes could make sure they'll never get the same engine, so this rumor is certainly contradictory to that. |

Vantage WEC Ownership: 95 - Young Driver AMR 96 - Goethe. 97 - ?Goethe? - Confirmed that owner is not AMR or Prodrive. 98 - Paul Dalla Lana 99 - ?Goethe? (I am assuming the owner of the 97 owns the 99 as well.) |

1. AMR need to double their car count to have a hope at winning, because with AMR's current luck, if they don't retire after a mechanical failure or a crash, they'll have a piano fall out of the sky and crush the car. 2. Replaced by whom? There aren't that many GTE cars to lose any, let alone competitively driven ones. So it's a twin-engine car, both front and rear engined? |
