Haha, and another frustrating one for the Honda camp for yet another losing battle for the win!
I don't know what Izawa was saying at the end but I almost feel sorry for the guy and Yamamoto too, crying like a baby on the podium. This time they actually did a credible job despite no win, although both did some minor mistakes. Yamamoto was really nervous in the second part of his stint! I hope they win a race soon because this team needs it. How long since their (Kunimitsu) last win? Great race by the Zent drivers. Tachikawa was really determined today, he was always going to win against a nervous Yamamoto, he is one of the most successful GT drivers and has been racing in GT500 for more than a decade. BTW great charge by Tsukakoshi. |

Sunday press conference by Masaaki Bandoh (chairman of GTA)
*It is difficulut to unify regulations with DTM. *However, we are continuing deliberations with ITR. *Deadline for 2014 regulations is May 2012. *We are ready to accept SGT participation of new DTM cars. BMW wants to participate in SGT. *We thinks as important thinking that Honda wants to participate in SGT by midship NSX. *We would like to enact the regulation which accepts midship NSX. http://as-web.jp/news/info.php?c_id=2&no=40068 |

The reason he was crying (Izawa too when he was interviwed) was because this was yet another failed oportunity to win his first race because they previously had several wasted chances, this was yet another one - the difference being he was only a few corners away this time and he blew it. |

Good read. He got the engine size backwards for SGT, it's 3.4 liters, not 4.3 liters. I'm glad that SGT isn't going to unite under those rules from DTM. SGT looks to be innovative in their future regulations. And I'd rather not see the spec body styles on their cars.

Don't forget this is Okayama, it suits the HSV's perfectly. Let's see what kind of pace they show next round at Fuji (hoping for a dry race-weekend). And even looking at their performance at Okayama they actually seemed to lost some pace compared to their rivals because last year if you remember they were miles ahead in race conditions. That was not the case this year, it was much closer to me.

They have yet to introduce their upgrade though, so they seem to be on the ball already even though other teams packages may be a bigger step up from last year in comparison. And you noted before that Yamamoto has not won a race yet he was very close to doing so. If he is not a very strong driver he did quite well to be where he was! So the car may be stronger than what we think.

I fail to understand why they just don't try simply to bring a DTM car to Japan and give it enough room for tuning until it runs the same lap times as the GT500s. They have done it before between themselves, they are doing it in GT300 all the time. I think at some point BMW is going to break ranks with ITR and do it. They are getting eaten by Audi on the japanese market, they need to restore their dominant sporting image and it's not with a couple of Z4s that they can do it. |
