OT.

Gary as I understand it you get your PRC back from your club & then the MSA stuff comes seperate. I've just got my PRC & other bits back from the BMMC but still waiting for the MSA to send the other bits out.

OT

Have fun everyone that is going. I might be able to get shift swaps or holidays for next year. Be safe & don't forget BE SEEN, especially at 3am.

My contact details are on the Midland Centre website (www.brsccmids.co.uk).

I'll be at the circuit from about noon tomorrow and, if everything is ready for Friday, at the social in the White Horse PH in the village from about 6:30pm.

I'll be posting some final pre-event information on this thread soon.

Final Information part 1

Hi everybody, I'm glad to read that you're all still so enthusiastic - this thread, if we count it's predecessor that went astray a couple of months ago, has been going for over 53 weeks now (and next year's has already been started).

It's great that so many people are coming, including from so far away. This is particularly good news because there are two other major race meetings in the south this weekend. Thanks to everybody who has posted postive and helpful comments or rounded up new volunteers (Paul W, Andy W, James G and others).

I'm sorry if some people didn't get their volunteering acknowledged or got missed off the mailing list but everybody who wants to work the event is welcome so do still come.

The numbers this year may stretched the admin to the limit but should make life easier at the event. It is demanding but I'll do what I can to make it as enjoyable as possible. Everbody will get tired and perhaps a little short tempered so try to stay calm and keep each others spirits up. To aid this I hope that the allocation will put people where and with whom they are happy.

For those who haven't had a letter and/or passes from either me (BRSCC) or Pam Dearn (Silverstone ES Team) the key details are as follows:

Signing on is 0715-0800 on Friday and Saturday in the Paddock Bar. If you miss these slots then go to Race Control (2nd floor). Everybody present on Friday must go to signing on again on Saturday.

Hi Pieman,
Thanks for the post/update.
Seems like me & wifey were part of the clerical overload for the admin,
so not to sure if we are on your list.
But i do believe "Startline Ed" contacted you.
Tickets have been sent 1st class,so if they turn up in the morning,i`ll post on here, saves bothering Pam,as i guess she`ll be busy.
Roll on Friday

It's just a shame they don't haven't got any reduced price Transit vans in a basket. My poor car looks bow-legged, it's carrying that much stuff for my little adventure tomorrow.

Final Information part 2

Britcar (I think they've dropped the EERC title now) are supplying meal vouchers for Friday & Saturday evening and Saturday & Sunday morning. These are valid in the main diner cafe, which will be staying open late on Friday and Saturday evening. They should also be accepted by some of the mobile catering units - certainly the ones in the main paddock by the footbridge over the pits straight.

BRSCC (i.e. me) will provide lunch bags to all marshals on each of the three days. These will contain a sandwich, cake and piece of fruit. I suggest you buy drinks and sweets/chocolate before you get to the circuit as these are relatively expensive on site. There are supermarkets on each of the major approach routes - in Towcester (not 24 Hrs), Brackley and Buckingham (24 Hrs but not Saturday night/Sunday).

It wasn't originally my idea but I shall be continuing the tradition of pies at about midnight during the race (they'll be pre-cooked ones but hopefully a few of the team or hospitality caterers in the paddock will heat them up for us as before). I have ordered a few veggie ones so if you want one of them I need to know where you are (at least by the time the main race starts).

Some of the Observers will be appointed Sector Chiefs, rather than us having individual Post Chiefs, and most will lead a team covering two or three adjacent flag points. This provides the opportunity to rotate for a change of scene and to cover for breaks. Not all flag points operate in the dark (with lights) so that gives additional potential for breaks. Flag marshals should organise their rota amongst themselves, in conjunction with their Sector Chief (who will have the last word).

Incident marshals should report to their designated Incident Officer (the one with the radio). Some of the run off areas at Silverstone are very big so the Incident marshals don't always stand next to the flag points.

If you don't know where you post/sector is and how to get there or where to park then do ask at signing on.

Lunches, pies and orange tabards (to be worn at night) will be delivered to the Sector Chiefs for distribution to both the Flag and Incident teams in their sector. Please return the tabards to the Chief on Sunday morning, ready for collection, along with any other equipment, at the end of the meeting.

Thanks Alan,
Won't have much room in the car for provisions, as I'll be sleeping in it!
Means I can have a bit longer to kip, without having to drive back and forth to my tent, so all food will be gratefully received.
Glad to see so many are coming, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
See you Friday morning.
