Of course if Porsche ran a third car all year that wouldn't be an issue. |

According to Radio Le Mans (MMS) Porsche will be running a third car. What I didn't catch is whether it will be for the full season, or whether it will be only for Le Mans (and Spa).

Apparently Nissan could possibly run 3 cars for the full season, they will surely have 3 for Le Mans.
If Porsche bring 3 and Audi bring their usual trio of cars, pretty sure Toyota only have the budget for 2. 11 factory prototypes at Spa and Le Mans, i'm keeping my fingers crossed! |

And you can never completely discount Audi from bringing the 4th again... Sure nobody expects it, but nor did in 2012 (and 99 if you count it)

I think of a current seat would go, it would be Lieb stepping down/aside/back to GT.

no way! lieb deserves his seat on the #14! No doubts abouth the fact that webber is the slowest porsche driver. In a perfect world he should be the one to drop... but unfortunately, webber is a great PR...

Webber is also one of the only guys on the team to have experience at Fuji. Not sure any of them have the experience he has at Shanghai. Someone like Button brings that knowledge.

I couldn't see it being Bernhard, Dumas or Webber, and the other two are quick young guns, so unless Jani or Hartley went to Nissan, which seems unlikely, then unfortunately Lieb would be the odd one out and the easiest to 'move'. I doubt there will be any change in those two cars though, for what it's worth. We've always had these rumours about stars coming in but they are rarely true. However, what is almost certain is that Button, Alonso and Magnussen Jr are competing for two seats, but I still think whichever misses out at McLaren will have plenty of other offers on the table than just sportscars. |

Is there room available at Porsche, if they are truly looking for success here? Surely one washed up, ex F1 pilot is enough!
Webber showed some good pace at Fuji, and the guy has still got it, when he decides to put the hammer down, but really..........????? The celebrity/has been driver's name value(insert Webber, Button, next weeks choice ) to Porsche seems to be more off track than on it. There's plenty of talent out there, that would be fast and reliable straight away, would come at a much cheaper price than Button, and give them a better chance of getting on the top step of the podium. |

Lieb raced there in 2012 and 2013, and won GTE-Pro in 2012. And Jani raced for Rebellion in 2012. |

Don't forget that Webber might still have least experience in terms of kilometers because he was only released in January and first test being December, iirc.

I think this illustrates the fact that ex F1 drivers need as much mileage as any other young talent to show pace in the LMP1 cars. In other words, they don't offer superior talent apart from PR value.

I'm not worried for Webber.
All works P1 drivers are really under the microscope but Fuji was a great step forward for him. I think he'll be a match for his team-mates next year and probably through the end of the season too. That Porsche has hardly been a consistent barometer of performance given all the niggles that were going on with it. Seems like a lot of times they had to drive around issues. |

***Could Nico Hulkenberg be the next F1 driver to compete in the FIA WEC? Several media outlets have have linked the Force India driver to a possible drive with Porsche in next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. The German manufacturer is known to be evaluating entering a third Porsche 919 for the 24-hour endurance classic. -Sportscar365.com - http://sportscar365.com/lemans/elms/...rday-notebook/

Auto bild is the originator of the Hulkenberg rumor. Theyre just claiming LM only with him staying in F1. So Button, Hulkenberg, Alonso all rumored to go to Porsche. They may as well spend all their budget paying for big names according to these stories.

Auto Bild is a tabloid rag.
Apparently Eddie Jordan has also said it, presumably in some BBC broadcast over the weekend. Last edited by deggis; 18 Oct 2014 at 23:15. |

If it is only for LM I don't think it will break their bank.

Alonso, Button and Hulk may be too much. I doubt any of them drive for Porsche. But I guess anything is possible!

Yes, I think this is all speculation and it will all depend on the F1 negotiations currently underway.
I think perhaps the Hulkenburg rumor is the closest to actually being a fact. |
