Seems Belgium served up another good one, must catch the highlights when they’re on. Timmy Hansen is the man at the moment. Maybe Ekstrom should go back to circuit racing, he seems to cause a lot of incidents

I don’t mind looking on YouTube as I can stream to my tv easily. But I do hate you cannot watch the full footage. I don’t consider it a good thing that only manufactures seems to get coverage, I prefer high clubman levels. There are 100 eligible cars, but only a handful are out on track? Ridiculous! And all those so called WRX minded people are either gone or ditched: Block, Ford, Pauwels, Doran, Albatec...

The 208’s look to have found the pace. Due to the 205 heritage I have a weak for PSA RX Cars.

The design of those concrete blocks is the screw up, the bottom has a piece that comes up at an angle so the car basically rides up onto it, Johan would have flipped also if Petter hasn't been there for him to lean on Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

The tracks are simply designed.
They are often very one line in places, with lots of tight bends to encourage slow speed contact and use of the handbrake. Original rallycross tracks like Lydden, Valkenswaard, Maasmechelen have maybe one tight corner, mixed with a lot of faster stuff or long, sweeping bends. Modern supercars, since the restrictor and grooved tyres are used don't like these. They much prefer the Montalagre, switchback style tracks. But they are largely one line and the gravel gets swept off after practice to leave a hard pack base that if you leave loses you positions. Meaning racing is congested on slow tracks with lots of tight bends to encourage hits and passing on slow corners. And also to fit within a smaller area like Hockenheim or Barcelona. Hence these crap block are often used, meaning cars are likely to hit them and flip. |

Just looked at 2017 vs 2018 for on track overtaking (not joker strategies).
Mistake is overtake through an error, Joker is the getting by due to difference in speed between standard and joker lap exit, Normal is just a normal/pushy overtake Barcelona 2017-19 (M7/J7/N5) 2018-12 (M4/J3/N5) Portugal 2017-14 (M8/J3/N3) 2018-11 (M4/J1/N6) Mettet 2017-11 (M7/J2/N2) 2018-14 (M5/J6/N3) <-All 3 normal thanks to Timmy in Semi Final 2 Hockenheim 2017-31 (M9/J6/N16) Plus this is probably all 2018 overtakes where as 2017 has less qualifying coverage so I must have missed some. Conclusion: 2018 is a bit more boring, so far. I feel each year it's got a little tamer either due to track changes, reductions in cars and possibly other factors. Still amazing but taming the beast (action-wise) a little? |

Perhaps there has been less overtaking (I assume you are just counting during the TV coverage and not the entire event?), but I personally think the top of the World field is much closer this year than in 2017. Some of the non-works teams look capable of making the podium as well. It's early days but, as things stand at present, it should be a much closer title race. There are also a couple of very strong challengers in the Euros, I really hope Nitiss can best Marklund as I think he deserves some success. |

I think that joker laps should be forbidden at the first and last lap of the race.

Germany suffers with having it at the end of the lap meaning the leader nearly always takes it at the end of a race depriving fans of a last lap on track battle,Silverstone will probably be the same. Before the widely unpopular decision to move the start and finish line Barcelona use to be at the end too but due to the speed and time gained on the exit of the joker drivers rarely took it on the last lap. |

Caught the highlights of Portugal this morning, it is closer than ever, although the weather did mix it up a bit

Personally I think it should be banned on the first lap only on the tracks where the joker is immediately after the start, other than that see no reason for it to banned on the last lap Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Uh oh. Timerzyanov might not be allowed into the UK as he doesn't have a visa at the moment. He couldn't compete in 2012 at Lydden Hill so it's not something that's guaranteed to be fine. Hopefully he can. |

No Topi either as his car isn't ready.
The very next FB post was of Timur confirming his UK Visa. Last edited by Hickey1; 24 May 2018 at 14:20. Reason: Too hasty with 'either' |

I don't know any rallycross regulars who are going. Couple of my mates were interested, but unwilling to pay the ticket price.
Think I will be going to watch some grasstrack instead! |

The goons?
Even with the discounts that were flying about it was far too expensive for me. I'm off to Brands for the Historics (cheaper for the weekend for me and my son than 1 day at Silverstone for me only). |

Brands would have been my first port of call, but I am still stinging from what they have done to the GP circuit.

Yep - that still sucks. I'll have another look to see if I can salvage anything in the way of photo opportunities on the loop but I'm not optimistic. Definitely going to be at Brands less now. The airshow at Duxford was the other option I looked at for this weekend.

No Silverstone for me this weekend, Brands all day Saturday for the Masters and Bruntingthorpe all day Sunday for Cold War Jets day. Just to show the insantiy for the World Rx prices, I've been able to get advanced Ticket for Saturday at the Masters Plus return train fair from Market Harborough to Swanley for less than the advanced ticket price of Saturday only at Silverstone!
Will be watching all the Facebook posts to see what peoples reactions are to the whole thing. |

I'm not going, tickets are too expensive. 15 of us have gone to Lydden for the last few years, none will be there this weekend.

It's a real shame, as it seems like Speed Machine has succeeded in attracting the wider audience they wanted: pity that they seem to have driven away the existing fan base in the process. |
